Even though there is no information available on ammunition stowage in the Ostwind, I'm going to add some Bronco ammo boxes from their ammo trailer kit and want to also add some spent casings in the mesh basket. Looking at the details of the ammo boxes I got from Ron Volstad, I'm wondering if there would be a tray with spent rounds still in it or if everything falls apart after the rounds have been fired.

Does anyone have a photo that shows spent rounds littering the ground around one of these guns?

Thanks,

Tom

I don't think there is a clip or magazine with spent rounds still in it for either gun.

Hi Tom,

Just a point to clear : the 3.7cm Flak 43 boxes and the Flak36/37 ones are different as the clip holds 8 rounds for the Flak43 or 6rounds for the Flak36/37.
I too am seeking for these 8 rounds clips boxes to equip the Möbelwagen...but no avail (unless these are present in the LionRoar/GWM sWS with the 3.7cm Flak ?).

Comparison Flak36 and Flak43 (scroll to the bottom) :http://wehrmachts.kisten.free.fr/rateliers_37mm_2.htm
3.7cm Flak43 :http://wehrmachts.kisten.free.fr/rateliers_3,7cm_2.htm

Cheers,
Patrice.

Alliance Model Works have excellent shells and cases for them.

Thanks for all the information and for the link to the photos of the ammunition boxes. I didn't realize there were two different ammunition boxes. So I'll be getting incorrect 6 round tray boxes with my Bronco purchase. It looks like I'll have to spring for the Alliance set and cast some spares in resin. When the tray of spent shells exits the gun, are the shells still fixed to the tray and the whole assembly falls into the basket?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom,
When the breech advance it unhooks the ammunition of the tray, and shoot it in the fire chamber.
After shooting, the shell is ejected and falls into the basket.
After the 8 round are fired, the tray also falls into the basket.

Cheers, Patrick

The Alliance Modelworks set is the 6 round Flak36/37 version.

As far as I know only Lionroar and Orangehobby make the Flak43 cartridge cases.
Lionroar's L3506 has 2 cases,17 unused rounds and 7 spent shells
OrangeHobby has two sets;
G35-024 with ten cases, 18 rounds and 2 spent shells and
G35-025 with two cases and, from what I can tell from the photo, 16 rounds.

Tom,
If you're putting the final touches on this baby, this must mean it will be "coming to a store near us" shortly.
Woo-hoo!
I promised myself I'd be good and not buy anymore kits.
I also promised myself, for this baby, I'm allowed to fall off the wagon.

Lucien,

Actually, Alliance do make a set for the Flak43 but it still only comes with 12 rounds of ammo plus 12 spent rounds. There are two containers and four trays but I did order some brass rounds that will fill up the trays.

I couldn't track down the Lion Roar set but I'll check ou the Orange Hobby set.

I don't think it will be too long now before the kit's released.

Thanks,

Tom

Some reference photos of Flak 43 ammo clips.

The Orange Hobby shells look a strange shape in the instructions that I have seen online. I don't know if the actual shells are a better shape?

Griffon Model also do some nice 3.7cm Flak ammo and spent shells. They are very slightly different in size to the AMW ammo though.

Hope this helps.
