Seeing Gavin at the Hogs head had really messed with Ebony's head. She knew she would see him around the school but she could avoid him rather easily since she no longer was a member of the quidditch team. Yet seeing him in the bar was something she had not been expecting, and seeing him macking on that trampy blonde had pushed her off the edge. She threatened the womans life, something Ebony would have never done before.

Since then She had fully embraced the Death Eater life. It was how she found herself in the dueling chamber, having placed charms and seals on the door so no one could come in unless they were Caleb or Logan. Running a hand through her hair she cocked her head and threw hex after hex and curse after curse at the training dummies.

She had been at this for sometime now and had actually worked up a sweat as she took her anger out on the dummies. Anger she felt towards Gavin for acting like such a juvenile idiot, anger at her father for making her choose this life, for threatening to kill Gavin and mostly anger at herself for having to be a cruel bitch and break not only her own but Gavins heart.

She another wave of anger crashed over her she got fed up and aimed her wand at the dummy. "Crucio!" she yelled as she heard the door behind her open not caring which of her two best friends walked in just as she spoke an unforgivable curse. She glared at the now writhing dummy and breathed heavily. "Just say what you want to say." she spoke to her friend not bothering to look over her shoulder.

As Caleb stood looking at Ebony, he couldn't help but wonder just how many girls he'd end up having to keep from jumping off towers. While Brianna's tower had been literal, Ebony's still seemed pretty real. He had known that a lot of things had been happening to her lately. From being forced to getting her dark mark to breaking up with Gavin the night of the dance. He had tried being a good friend to her then. A strong source of constant support. But he had to admit that when she had drank up his entire supply of booze after he'd only given her permission to drink part of it, he'd been more than a little ticked.

But he was still trying to be a supportive friend. She'd been there for him through some of his hardest moments and he was going to try being there for her. Even if it killed him which he really hoped it didn't. He was already risking his life as a Death Eater and he honestly did not need to be risking his ass as her friend too. Because while he knew the reasons behind her acting the way she did he couldn't exactly fathom why she'd fallen so easily into it. He just wasn't used to seeing her like this. So dark and when he saw her crucio that dummy, it was almost too much for him to deal with.

He'd been watching her silently for a while now. Not that ready or willing to talk to her just yet. But when he'd accidentally let the door shut that he'd previously been holding open and she'd turned her attention towards him, he knew he'd have to talk now or not at all. And he couldn't bring himself to leave her just yet, so he decided to say something. "I'm worried about you Ebony. You've put yourself in this mindset and I'm still trying to figure out why. Seriously Eb, why are you letting him win?"

Logan knew that there was a part of him that had been severely neglecting his friends. However, all the drama that had happened recently had caused him to rethink the way his life was going. Call it a moment of clarity but apparently he hadnt been the only one to think that way. Ebony too seemed to be on a path of reflection. It was times like this that caused him to want to scream. He had worlessly followed Caleb. He stood outside the room behind him and proceeded to stare in almost horror at what he was seeing.

He blinked as the door shut in his face and tilted his head to one side in annoyance. I was standing here. He thought in a brief moment of annoyance before realizing that Caleb hadn't know in the least little bit that he had been standing there. He shook his head and opened the door. Catching the tail end of the conversation, he patted Caleb on the back. He was absolutely right in what he was saying.

"I completely agree. You are only succeeding to make everything he want come true. He doesn't deserve that. You deserve happiness now. Why let your bastard of a father win? You're becoming someone that you aren't. Trust me, all this." He motioned around indicating the way she was acting and what she was becoming. "Its not worth it."

Ebony rolled her shoulders relieving some tension she had been feeling as she heard Caleb speaking. He was worried about her, it almost made her laugh. She knew he was worried but she really couldn't care at the moment. She turned on her heel and to stare at him seeing Logan slip in the door behind him. Great just what she needed both of them there to scold her, like they had any room to talk. She was doing what she had to do, if she didn't she would lose everything she held dear. Her father would have killed Gavin, would have subjected her to a lifetime of torture. Hell she even now had to be careful with Shawn so that her father wouldn't threaten his life as well since his family is considered blood traitors.

Crossing her arms across her chest and narrowed her eyes at her best friends. "There's nothing to worry about Caleb. I'm just showing my true colors." she spoke turning her attention to Logan ,"You guys just don't get it. This is who I am, who I have to be." she let her voice trail off as she moved back to the dummy and cast crucio once more letting her anger and despair flow through her in that moment. Shaking her head she stopped the spell and threw her wand to the floor as she crossed the short distance to the stone wall and let her fist fly hitting it as hard as she could. Her whole body was trembling and shaking at this point and she let her forehead rest against the cold stone. Inhaling deeply she turned and slid down the stone to the floor locking her arms tightly around her bent knees.

"I can't have happiness. I had a glimpse of it and had it ripped away. I had to end things with Gavin or else my dad would kill him. He threatened his life, I'd rather die than let Gavin get hurt." Ebony ran her hand through her hair and sighed heavily. "I've done things recently that I hate myself for. I've tortured, tortured innocent people and the worst part of it all is that I liked it. I like being the one in control for once in my stupid life. The beatings have stopped, the abuse has stopped. By embracing this darkness, this evil inside of me I don't have to feel that pain anymore."

She looked up at her friends, her family, the only two men who had always been there for her. "I shouldn't feel like this but I do. I had my heart ripped out and charred to a crisp. I'm broken, beyond repair at this point. I'm not letting him win, I'm protecting those I love. I've made mistakes recently hell I got so black out drunk that I slept with someone without even knowing it." she scoffed knowing that she hadn't told either of them that fact. "I have to be like this. To save myself, to save you guys, to save Gavin, and Shawn and Leila. I've had to harden my heart and do what I need to no matter how horrid."

Caleb noticed Logan standing behind him and sighed in relief. He did not need to be alone with Ebony right now, not when she was being like this. Especially since all he currently wanted to do was slap her. Or hex or. Actually both options were starting to sound particularly amazing. He knew that she was going through a lot. That part he understood completely, he was going through a lot as well. But what he didn't understand was that she was willingly throwing everything away for one man that she hadn't even been with for that long.

Now Caleb would be the first person in the world to admit that he did not understand love. Hell he didn't even come close and he was about to graduate from Hogwarts. But he did know that such things took an insane amount of time. Because Caleb didn't believe in fate or destiny or soulmates. None of that bullshit existed in his eyes. And that mixed with a lot of jealousy were the reasons why he could not let himself get behind Ebony's relationship with their oh so lovely flying instructor. It wasn't because he willingly hated Gavin as a person, but because his jealousy forced him to do so.

"If these are your true colors then I guess I really never knew you at all during our seven years of friendship," Caleb retorted. He really could not believe that she was acting like this. But most of all, he couldn't believe that she was lying to not only them but to herself by saying that these were her true colors. His eyes darted to Logan's and he found himself grabbing his friend's hand for support. Watching Ebony cast crucio on the dummy once again might've been extremely hard to watch but he was glad to have his best friend's support. But then Ebony stopped the spell and launched her wand at the ground before she started hitting the walls with a fury he hadn't seen before. He wanted to calm her down in some way but had no idea what to do.

But then she mentioned Gavin and he felt himself grow angry again. Didn't she realize that he and Logan had always been there for her? That they had always tried to make her happy and support her no matter what? Did she not realize that they loved her? But had she ever willingly risked her life for them? No, instead she'd willingly risked her life and everything she stood for as a person to save some person she barely even knew. "I don't understand you anymore," he said, shaking his head in a mix between sadness and anger. "You've given up a part of yourself. Closed it off and buried it and for what? So some boyfriend you've had for two months who by the way is an adult that can probably take better care of himself than you can not have his life put at risk? I'm sorry but I just don't understand why you would do this because of that. You are worth so much more as a person than to end up being your father's lackey."

He sighed, his eyes darting to Logan and then back to Ebony. "I'm sorry but I just can't stand by you for this," he muttered as he turned around and walked out the door. If that was what love did to a person than he never wanted to fall.

This was utterly ridiculous. Life wasn't supposed to be fair, but was it necessary for it to become a nightmare. This wasn't how their last year was supposed to go. They were supposed to be having the time of their lives, not watching each other fall apart. And for what? Why were they fall apart about? Because of a sick little thing called love? Was it worth it? Was it worth fighting for something that might fail in the end? Yes. Hannah was worth that. But was it worth subjecting her to a life of torture? Was it worth having to worry that he was going to ultimately cause her death for loving her?

The look that Ebony shot their way made him think that she was annoyed at their presence. Lately everything that he did seem that someone suffered for it. He listened patiently, although rage was boiling inside of him. It was ironic really that when he was trying to be good, he had the most rage or perhaps it was just everything that had been happening lately.

Logan's head snapped up, "I don't get it?" A sardonic laugh erupted from some place deep inside of him. "I think I get having expectations from a scary father much better than you might think." He was trying not too get annoyed with her but it was hard, and Caleb wasn't helping matters any. "But no Ebony, this isn't your true colors. This is just you trying to please a horrible excuse for a father."

Logan groaned. "Trying to protect us? I think out of the people that you listed Leila might be the only person that wouldn't be able to stand up against him and last time I checked, he didn't act as if she existed." He shook his head. "The abuse could have stopped years ago. All you had to do was let me kill him. I've offered it thousands of times and you've said no." He sighed as he watched Caleb leave the room. Figures. He was left alone to solve yet another problem. When had he merged from the villain to the hero?

How had she let things get so flipped around. She had gone from being happy, well happier then she ever thought she could be, with a man who loved her and whom she loved more than she had ever loved before to breaking both of their hearts just to turn into the pawn of her father, something she vowed she would never become. She could understand Logan and Caleb's disappointment in her. She was disappointed in herself but there was nothing she could do about that now. She started down that dark path and she couldn't quit as easily as she had joined.

Looking at her hand she saw the blood that had settled in the cuts between her knuckles. Shaking her head she let it fall backwards and rest against the wall as she fought back tears that threatened to fall. She let her head tilt to the side to look at her best friends listening as Caleb spoke. "You don't understand it Caleb. It's easy to fall so hard in love with someone in only two months, am I right Logan?" she asked her eyes moving to him knowing he fell in love with Hannah just as hard as she had for Gavin. She watched as Caleb left the room the door slamming shut behind him, she was tempted to go get him but decided it was best to let him go.

"I know you understand Logan. Wouldn't you do the same thing I'm doing if it was to protect Hannah? I mean she's clearly able to protect herself but you couldn't risk the slight chance of her dying right? That's why I'm doing this. I can't run that risk of Gavin being hurt." She motioned for Logan to come and sit with her and once he had she let her head fall onto his shoulder. "I don't know what I'm doing anymore Logan. One minute this power, this darkness scares me the next I'm enjoying it. I've been torturing people, watching them scream in pain and I'm just blind to it."

Ebony ran a hand down her face as she wiped away a stray tear that she hadn't even noticed fell. Wrapping an arm around Logan's she sighed as she felt a familiar comfort with him. She was hoping he could help, he always knew how to help her, how to take care of her when she needed him. It was one of the reason's she had dated him to begin with. "Hell I can't even figure anything out anymore. I left Gav to protect him, then end up getting drunk and sleeping with someone else who I then slept with again when we were sober. Then there's you and Caleb and god damn it, when did my life become such a freaking mess." she questioned herself with a sardonic laugh.

The words that Ebony was saying made sense. They were breaking down his walls of stubbornness to hit a spot inside of him that he had been adamantly ignoring. The part that screamed that it was safer for Hannah without him. Now wasn't the time to think about Hannah though. He needed to concentrate on Ebony. She needed him right now, even more than Caleb did.

Most of the frustration that he felt towards her disappeared. She was hurting. It wasn't just her becoming weak, it was her trying to protect the person that had come to mean the world for her. "I'm not sure about two months. But falling incredibly hard is easy." He agreed. Was putting Hannah through everything that would come with him worth it? "Didn't I punch a wall once only for you to tell me it was stupid?"

"I do and I don't. I'm basically dating the daughter of my fathers most hated person. No, I couldn't risk her dying." He conceded and leaned his head against hers. "If we keep getting fucked like this, we should start charging for our services." He was only half joking. They did get screwed enough it would be nice to get something out of it. He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm sure you like the peacefulness, but you can't let him control every aspect of your life forever. You really should just kill him and get it over with."

Logan frowned and squeezed her shoulders. "Come on Ebs. You can't cry on me. You know I can't handle your tears." Why was it that he needed to save everyone he cared about lately? Was he the one having a hero complex or something? "The power is nice, but what's it worth in the end if you can't have what you really want?" Logan kissed the top of her head. "When you were born and your father took you. You got the rotten end of the deal."
