Well, Psycho was absolutely correct. I eat my crow. Now it's at least two more years of winter. The DCB killed us. Even when we win we lose. I knew when he wasn't fired immediately that we were in trouble. Marvin was talking about wanting to stay and about certain things he wanted, and it seemed they were under negotiation - that Mike Brown was open to him staying. I knew if he signed a deal that he would want 2 years of security. He got it, and there is little chance he is fired while under contract, so we'll do all of this again in 2 years...only for Marvin to be resigned. All he has to do is have mediocre or winning records in these next 2 years to keep his job.

I will say that I wonder what Mike Brown is thinking as a businessman. If you read the Bengals board or their Twitter feed, every single comment is negative. Every. One. There are people saying they are dumping their tickets and are done as fans. For a man who had trouble even coming close to selling out his stadium, that is not a good business model. I guess he figures he'll get enough with the revenue sharing to care and that loyalty is worth more than ticket sales.

Stephen A. Smith talked about the Bengals today saying it was inexcusable that Marvin wasn't fired years ago and that this is disrespectful to the paying citizens of Cincinnati. He was really fired up - can't wait to see him tomorrow. They had a guy on who was speaking about the Bengals front office - he said it's mysterious how they operate but that their model really isn't working. We all know this, of course. The Bengals are the North Korea of the NFL.

Here is the video. For copyright, their voices sound a little funny, but I will link to the part about Marvin. Preach, Stephen A, Preach:

I think Marvin truly wants to win, but he can't for whatever reason get over the hump, and that's unfortunate. So here's to more deer in the headlights, more clapping, more "let's goes!", more "we did some good things", more "we just need to make football plays", more "we just need to make tackles", more games without halftime adjustments, more bungling away games, more blowing big leads, more primetime and big game losses, more condescending laughing, and no playoff wins. Happy New Year courtesy of the Cincinnati Bengals!

Psycho knows how mikey thinks better than most - he nailed it. looks like more of the same unless mikey gave into Lewis's demands - no way of knowing what they were. Even if mikey gave Lewis everything he wanted would that translate into a deep run in the playoffs? I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader to figure out.

Ps. here's a sample of some of the comments I found:

In all fairness to giggles - true he isn't the greatest coach in the world - but mikey didn't give him much to work with this year. To the many injuries on defense - to china doll Ross- to Eifert another China doll - to the poor draft choices for the most part the last 4 or 5 years and the p!ss poor OL we had. It's a miracle this team won 7 games. This year is 80% on mikey - I don't think Bellicek could have done much with this team and mikey. Mikey took giggles back because he knew he wouldn't get anyone better.
