...was inspired to post this because it was a sudden revelation.

I was random YouTube clicking yesterday and happened upon the Bengals-Chiefs game of 2003 and it reminded me of all of the hope that came with Marvin Lewis' arrival (I'm particularly retrospective about this because I moved to Atlanta from CBBengal and I's hometown in Canada in 2003 and wasn't used to going to a regular sports bar to follow every Bengal game so faithfully. I was *really* into that '03 team. So 15 years and counting for me here and 15 years and counting for Marvin...).

Anyhow, somewhere else in the queue was a video pertaining to the 49ers-Bengals Super Bowl and it suddenly hit me:

When the Bengals hired Marvin Lewis, they were 14ish years removed from their last Super Bowl appearance. It felt like eons had gone by. Think of what an eternity the Ickey Shuffle's heyday seemed to be when Marvin was hired.

We are further removed from Marvin's hiring now than we were removed from that Super Bowl appearance then.

Cheerful thought, eh?

Amazing (well, probably not so much) how his life came to an end and that he had a seven year career but still his dropped interception comes up pretty much right away on his wiki.
