That was one of the first things I thought about when I saw the news about Polly Pocket at Toy Fair. I have a 4 year old daughter and my first thought was that she would really dig Polly Pocket. She is really interested in my original Star Wars Galoob Micro Machines and Playsets and other minifigure and microfigure lines so I bet she would dig some of her own. My second thought was "I wonder if Mattel will attempt to revive Mighty Max at some point?" Let's hope!

I hope a lot of people at the Toy fair suggested a Mighty Max revival to the Mattel reps.

For sure @maxfan.
Mighty Max Revival is pretty much close after some calculations and discussions.
Maybe we can wait for some of season 4 unreleased sets (or all of them by the time all the sets were ready to be produced) or a “softcore” re-incarnation of old sets or just new sets from the scratch.Personally, this or next year i bet new MM toys will stand next to my completed old MM toys showcase.

I just read about this, I had no idea that Polly Pocket was coming back. The sets look a little bit bigger than vintage Polly though, not by much but the figures look double the size.

One thing to take notice is that Polly Pocket has been a brand for the past decades even if not at this scale. It's not the same as relaunching Mighty Max who hasn't been in the toy aisles since the 90s.

I don't think we're going to see Mighty Max next year though, they likely will wait and see how Polly Pocket does at that scale. If it's a success then Mighty Max might have a chance.

And we aren't going to see any re-releases or releasing the waves that were cancelled, it will be new sculpts for better or for worse. But hell we might even get a netflix series like Polly Pocket is getting !

I'm sure new Mighty Max sets (if any) will be all-new.

Interestingly, the Polly Pocket "revival" (I hesitate to call it that because as sdp said, it's been around for a while and only had a brief hiatus from 2013ish to now) includes both the classic style compact sets and the more recent Polly Pocket "dolls" with removable clothing. It will be interesting to see if the smaller sets do well and usher in a new era of miniature playsets. If so, Mighty Max could be well on his way back.

As for the new Polly's, they're only slightly larger than the classic 90's Polly. But they have softer rubber legs that allow for movement. If Max follows a similar change, how would you guys react?

I don't know how I would feel about rubbery figurines.  If they are sturdy then that might be ok.  A few monsters were rubbery (Lignin, the Dino Lab dinosaurs, the Man-eater squid etc).

I don't live in the states so I don't know how the toy aisles are there but I've seen commercials of mini playsets of Star Wars, are there other micro playsets also popping up?

The Star Wars "micro machines" sets have been out since The Force Awakens I believe?

As for Polly Pocket, here's a size comparison from the 2018 wave with older Polly, Max, and our beloved Dr. Kalamarus.

The new Polly isn't very much bigger than the original, so I think if the line is successful we can assume Mattel will go a similar route with Max. The new Polly figures can't move, but their legs are a very flexible rubber that can move in any direction. Their hair is made of a similar rubber though is harder to move as it's significantly smaller. They also have a "Smart Stick" where their feet will stick on specific surfaces. Their feet/legs are also strong enough to hold them upright on a table/flat surface. It's quite interesting what they've managed to do with such a small toy.

Here's the comparison pic (weirdly it won't let me paste the image in the post).
