I've made a new list of classifications which might help us in the future with tournaments. They are rough estimates of course which considers generalized power output (not just strength), but also durability/healing/speed/telepathy/magic/force fields/kinesis.

I see you put some thought into this. Nice to see brother. :friends:

A few things off the top of my head that I would alter:

The Class Tonage system is a bit off. Once you hit 100 tons in the MU, it pretty much goes out the window. When I came up with the Heavy, Mega, etc. class system it was primarily because the Class 150, Class 200, etc. list that a lot of sites used was really off base.

A prime example is Prof. Hulk, listed at 110 tons. This guy can casually lift 50,000 tons. His max press is likely well above 100,00 tons. Calling him Class 110 is a bit misleading. I would stay away from Class ratings after 100. Keep it to things like Light Heavy, Super Heavy, Mega Class, etc.
When all other factors and possibilities have been eliminated from the equation; Whatever remains, regardless of how improbable it may be, is inevitably the truth.

Alrighty, I've dived deep into what your rankings are, and I have a whole bunch of ideas on what I would tweek. This is all take it or leave it for folks, but I think we should keep a lot of what we have rather than inventing the wheel all over again. We all know what Mega Class means for example.

Touching on the ranking systems themselves a below:

Normal Human Level (100 - 400 lbs / 50 - 200 kg)
(Punisher, Green Arrow, Hawkeye, Bullseye, Joker, Baron Helmut Zemo, Red Skull, Deadshot)

Peak Human Level (400 - 800 lbs / 150 - 350 kg)
(Batman, Kingpin, Shang Chi)

Enhanced Human Level (800 lbs - 5 tons)
(Captain America, Blade, Paladin, Killer Croc, Midnighter)

I'd recommend switching this up a wee bit. Punisher is well above normal human strength, being more akin to a body builder in physique. Normal Human would be Prof. X, Kitty Pryde, Riddler, Joker, Arcade, etc.

Peak Human is max human strength range (I've come to realize it is indeed a range and not a set number; basically indicating a person that could go to a given Olympic Weight Lifting event and hold their own against the best that human kind has to offer). This would technically include Captain America - in 616 he is not superhuman, he is max normal human. It would also include Batman and Kingpin.

Maybe a better Class for the bottom three would be:

Normal Human - Typical postal worker, etc. - Joker, Riddler, etc.
Athletic Human - Body Builder/Athlete - Hawkeye, Punisher, Nightwing, etc.
Peak Human - Olympic Power Lifter - Cap, Batman, etc.

Note: We should probably also differentiate between Draft Class and the above noted lift class, as Peak Human and everything below it is still only Low Street level when it comes to picks. Though I suppose the Normal Human/Athletic Human could be used if we ever want to do a Henchman/Sidekick class draft and exclude guys like Cap and Bats.

Super Human Feather Weight (5 - 15 tons)
(Spider-Man, Quicksilver, Iron Fist, Wolverine, Venom, Scorpion)

After this category things get a bit confusing. Quicksilver cannot lift anything close to 5 tons, nor can Iron Fist or Wolverine. Venom can lift more than 15 tons. This is where effective damage levels and lifting class levels don't jive IMO. But I do like the idea of splitting up the lower Street Classes to give some direction for future tourney ideas.

I'd recommend that instead of a 5-15 ton feather weight class, we go with a Low Meta Human class that runs from 2-5 tons.

Low Meta Human (2-5 Tons): Blade, The Gorgon, Midnighter, Moon Knight (Classic under full moon), etc.

Meta Human (6-20 tons): I'd increase the range from 6-20 because this encompasses all of the Spider-Men and Goblins that tend to make up the core of the roughly Class 10 basic meta human group (of which there are a ton). This would include Spiderman, Scarlet Spider, Green Goblin, US Agent, Jack Flag, etc.

High Meta Human (21-50 tons): This is the sweet spot for lower level bricks and street version of supermen. It covers that large group of guys that can slap around a Spiderman, but still get slapped around by a Thing/Colossus. This is the group that include: Savage Dragon, Luke Cage, Warpath (current), Venom, etc.

Low Heavy Weight Class (51- 99 tons): This would be the group that fights, but tends to loose, to Class 100 foes and still ragdolls most anyone in the Meta Human ranges. Examples would be: Doc Samson, Captain Britain, Young Colossus, Ares, Ronan, etc.

Heavy Weight (Base Class 100 - Low Class 100+): The last of the Class System rating, this would he core Class 100 ranked heroes. Including: Colossus (current), Iron Man (max armor), The Thing (I know he is often ranked lower, but dude is totally a base Class 100 on lift and combat feats), etc.

Super Heavyweight Class: At this point I would drop the Class System for reference. These are simply guys that lift thousands of tons, but still below Mega Class levels. This would include: Namor, Superboy, Skaar, Prof. Hulk, etc.

Mega Class: Those that lift over 100,000 tons with casual ease. This includes Superman, Thor, Hulk, etc.

Bridge Class: Those that lift more than Mega, but not quite as much as Skyfathers. The literal Bridge between the two classes. Includes: Thanos, Superboy Prime, Darkseid, etc.

Skyfather Level - The pantheon leader godlings and equivalent beings.

Abstract Levels: For these I'm cool with the ranking you've used, but I'm sure folks will have arguments over who fits where. For me, simply calling this class Abstract Cosmic suits; mostly because I would never want to run a tourney of this level lol.

....that's what I've got. Thoughts folks?

I disagree with the low and high seperation and leaving out the middle. Theres much room inbetween, meaning people will never select from what I've termed middleweight if they can select up to 99 tons, or choose from the 20 tonners if it leads up to 50 tons.

I agree with the normal and athletic seperation though. I havent finetuned yet, who should be in what.

Using strength as a guiding factor is a bit misleading. It's a decent reference point, but it might be helpful to list a few blaster types(or any other power-type for that matter) in various categories so that people have a range of comparison for more than just strength. Even if we look at blasting force in terms of tons, that still leaves questions regarding teleporters, telepaths, characters who have more durability than strength, ice-characters, and a whole host of others.

Yeah, I know. This is a good start, and for the most part, would be a good guide. I'm simply recommending that as it is updated it should include other power types listed as well.

Alongside the criticisms already posted the levels above skyfatherhood are somewhat off base. Galactus is at best galactic level, at worst skyfather lev considering skyfathers and hell Lords have challenged him on several occasions. He is in no way above Mr Myxyptlk or Shuma Gorath. As Jax pointed out once you get past skyfather/ earth mother/ hell Lord level the massive cosmic entities and abstracts get very hard to quantify.

Galactus constantly fluctuates. Either way, those levels arent that important due to us never using them in tournaments.

Punisher needs to move up one. I've seen his lifting listed as either 400 pounds or "at least twice his body weight"

He'd definitely stronger than Joker and Riddler.

I'd actually push Croc up to the 5-15 ton range. He's a jobber but he's strong enough to pick up and toss automobiles, tear apart armored cars and rip a bank vault door off its hinges. Durability wise he's past that level (when not jobbing) as he's bulletproof, tanked high grade explosives, getting run over by the Batmobile and falling from the top of Wayne Tower.

Also Mr Freeze is beyond athletic human when in his suit and his blaster power is quite a bit higher.

Most cars weigh about 2000 kg, so Killer Croc is not above 5 tons per se. I agree with Mr. Freeze.

Okay so we might need a reclassification, instead based on threat level. How many levels there will be, im not sure yet. Threat level considers all aspects of a character, strength, durability, weapons/armor (material), speed, intelligence and all other metapowers (range/spread, effectiveness, useability) number of powers. What also should be considered is the history of a character. What feats do they have? The max is Superman or equivalant.

Who is willing to help out with this?

What's the best way to help? Just list off a bunch of characters that are around the same ballpark? Then we can have discussions about where each one fits on the hierarchy?

Well, at least throw together characters who are suspected to be in the same league without asigning a permanent number of threat level yet.

Ill assign a non significant letter to the groups, which arent permanent.
Create a new group if you think it doesnt fit in the existing ones.

Group D: Batman, Bronze Tiger, Daredevil, Moon Knight, Shang Chi

Group E: Captain America, Black Panther, Sabretooth

Group G: Spider-Man, Iron Fist, Quicksilver, Wolverine, Gambit, Midnighter

Group H: Venom (Brock), Warpath,

Group I: Luke Cage,

Group L: Cyclops

Group M: Colossus, Thing, Strong Guy, Sasquatch, Doc Samson, Ares (Marvel), She-Hulk, Havok

Group N: Namor, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel,

Group: O: Wonder Man, Abomination, Graviton

Group P: Magneto,

Group Y: Firelord, Firestorm, Beta Ray Bill, Hal Jordan, Wonder Woman, Terrax, Apollo

Group Z: Superman, Thor, Mr. Majestic, Silver Surfer, Martian Manhunter, Doomsday, Dr. Strange, Dr. Fate

I think we should just create a giant master list with as many characters as possible. Then once it's big enough we go through each group and fine tune it and vote on which characters get bumped up or down, or if there's enough characters to justify it, into another group altogether.

Just to list a few characters I'd add to each of your groups, Think...

Group D - Punisher, Hwakeye, Green Arrow, Nightwing, Red Hood, Judge Dredd, Shredder, Richard Dragon, Lady Shiva, Black Widow, Elektra, Bullseye, Deadshot, Red Robin, Damien Wayne, Ra's al Ghul, Splinter, Katana

Group E - Winter Soldier, Taskmaster, Silver Samurai, Terminator, Falcon, Nightcrawler, Beast, Bane, Killer Croc

Group G - Deathstroke, Predator, Archangel, Lizard, Doc Ock, Mr. Freeze, Zealot

Group H - Clayface, Hawkman, Hydro-Man, Savage Dragon, Black Tarantula, Gorgon

Group I - Carnage, Sandman, Poison Ivy, Avalanche, Pyro

Group L - Storm, Rhino, Bishop, Rockslide, Blob

Group M - War Machine, Electro, Omega Red, Mimic

Group N - Ocean Master, Donna Troy, Sebastian Shaw, Dr. Polaris

Group O - Professor Hulk, Human Torch, Rogue, Big Barda, Metallo, Vision

Group P - Dr. Doom, Iceman, Invisible Woman, Aquaman, Superboy, Supergirl, Parasite

Group Y - Apocalypse, Loki, Ultron, Hercules, Vulcan, Jean Grey, Savage Hulk, Maxima, Sinestro, Zod, Mongul Jr., Exodus

Group Z - Black Adam, Captain Marvel, Gladiator, The Flash, Nate Grey, Green Scar Hulk, Brainiac, Juggernaut, Kurse, Supreme, Mr. Majestic, Morg

That needs a lot of tweaking, but combined with your list, that's a decent start.

Black Tarantula should move up one into the 15-40 ton. The guy picked up and tossed a huge truck, has blasting power, healing factor and a healing touch. He's also listed as a class 25-35 everywhere.

As for the help. I guess I could help out by contributing a bunch of indie and obscure characters that most wouldn't think of. This way when I pick them in drafts it doesn't send everyone into a Google panic or lead to confusion during voting time. This also includes every stage of Spawn, as he ranges from lower mid level into skyfather and beyond (briefly).

Yeah man. Just do your best to ballpark as many characters as you can think of into the groups that Think and I have already started. If enough guys do that, we'll have a huge list of characters that we can fine tune.

I think this method of classifying the groups is pretty accurate and ideal, imho. Good job Think and Sal. I was utterly confused when I first scrolled through thread before! I get it now, I think. All these characters are ranked due to not just strength, but their overall powers and ability to endure.
I'll try and class a few more characters:

Group D- Baron Zemo, Black Knight, Silver Sable, Mockingbird, UNION JACK, The Cat, Swordsman(Von Strucker), Doc midnite, Ninjak, Nighhawk, Colleen wing.

Group E- USAgent, Jack Flag, Wildcat, Scorpion, yondu

Group G- Karnak, Madame web/julia carpenter, Major Victory, Cardiac

Group H- Spider man 2099, Kaine, Joe Fixit, Songbird, American Eagle, Puma

Group I- Warpath, Gamora, Drax, Sauron, Morlun, Radioactive man

L- Crystal, Mandarin, Mr.sinister, Penance(as speedball he would be in G at highest lol)
M- Psylocke, Sunfire, Skaar, Snowbird
O- Hercules,
P- Super skrull(kl'rt), Captain Britain, Rachel Summers, Meggan
Y- Nova prime, Maestro, Nimrod, Ultron
Z- Thanos, Blue marvel, sentry, molecule man, starbrand, plutonian(Irredeemable)

Why is Omega Red ranked that high in class M? He would be more in I, with morlun, warpath, drax, etc. Electro isn't M either, no bloody way. He's a chump loser with electrical powers. Throw him in I, even H.
Gal Gadot, Elodie Yung, Felicity Jones, Daisy Ridley, Zoe Saldana, Brie Larsen, Evangeline Lilly, Kate Beckinsale, Jennifer Connely, Rebeca Ferguson, Jessica Chastain, Margot Robbie, Emily Blunt, Emilia Clarke, Scarlet Johanssen, Diane Kruger, Lena Headey, Michelle Monaghan.
