Noted on InstantWatcher that a number of his vampire films hit Netflix Instant today; thought fans might want to know...

I noticed that! Queue'd 'em all. I've never seen a Rollin film, believe it or not. Just one of those cult filmmakers I just haven't gotten around to. No real reason. I've never consciously avoided him or anything, just haven't seen any yet. Which one do I watch first?

Hmmm...I'm tempted to say start in order with LE VIOL DU VAMPIRE. But..it's slow, moody, B/W cinematography and split story may put you off towards the others. Sooo, maybe start with REQUIEM, which is the least dialogue reliant and most popular. Then go back and do LA VIOL DU VAMPIRE and LA VAMPIRE NUE, which go well together actually, then LE FRISSON DES VAMPIRES (SHIVER OF THE VAMPIRES), hoping that Netflix has the original cut and not the longer version with extra sex scenes that Something Weird first put out, then the superb LEVRES DE SANGE, then forward to his more recent ones.

And if they have it on streaming, I have to renew my Netflix sometime this week so I haven't checked, get his zombified opuses THE LIVING DEAD GIRL and GRAPES OF DEATH.

Checked out DEMONIACS this weekend - it's in French with no subtitles. Are the rest likewise?

. . . my only recommendation (as a fan of Rollin's body of work) would be to start with the earliest film available and work your way through chronologically - always an instructive way to view the films of an auteur like Rollin and this gives you the opportunity to do that; once you enter his dreamworld you might be hooked . . .
