Anyone else had their eye on this? Been watching and waiting for the adaptation to come out since Darabont signed up for it.

I'm not going to lie. I came.

The simple fact that it's gonna be a TV show and not a movie sold me the instant I heard about it, let alone getting Frank Darabont in.

Sweet. I can always deal with more zombie stuff.
There's a Marine unit called The Walking Dead, funnily enough. That's what drew me to this thread.

Have you guys read the graphic novel?

I hope they start taking the show in a different direction at a certain point before they hold up in a certain facility. In the graphic novel theres a point where
[+] Spoiler
the group the story centers around holds up in an abandoned prison, after this point I felt the story got really one track, whereas before they shacked up in there, I felt like there were endless possibilities. Now, I haven't read them all, only about up to book 8 of the first series.

Either way the show will be amazing, and Im sure Darabont will make that part interesting if they go in that direction.
Excited.

I'm pretty much up to date with the comics. I don't know whether this will be a straight adaptation or not, but I'd be fine either way. If it's a direct adaptation then great, the comics lend themselves to it (they're basically the Romero series on the page) and if not even better as it will be cool to see something new.
[+] Spoiler
Have you got up to where they get out of the prison yet? Or even a few stories before that when Rick and a few others leave to find out what's going on in the area outside? Because the story does slow down when they get inside but for me at least what happens after the first story in the prison is genius, especially the end of the prison saga, I never even saw some of the stuff that happened coming and the issues after that are the best in the series in my opinion.
I just wanna see some highway spanning herds.

No I haven't, I sneaked a peak at the next issue in the book store, and its something about a guy in a tank coming to the prison. Im on the issue before that.

And I agree, I really liked the prison at first, then it started to get a little boring. What happens next? Roughly, I dont want anything spoiled.
I need to catch up, I have a feeling Im far behind on the comics.
