Hi,
Is it possible to do simultaneous serving of videos, ie. one guy goes to a video and starts watching it, and when he's at 1:00 into it, viewer 2 comes along and wants to watch it from the beginning - and there'll be hundreds and thousands of people like this - can MenuetOS handle this kind of load? If not menuet, is there any other Lite, Asm OS that can?

Thanks.

Menuet can handle well streaming (sending and receiving) tcp/ip data. All you need to do is start multiple servers inside Menuet and each server handles one tcp/ip streaming connection.

That's good to know, but what about the other stuff - what kind of filesystems does it use? Is its performance comparable to any of the Linux ones? And what is the disk caching algorithm? If a video is being requested a lot, will it end up being served from RAM instead of disk?

Just btw, I wanted to congratulate you guys on COMING this far with something like Menuet.... makes all hackers lives worthwhile..... :)

Menuet supports Fat32 at HD and USB storages and ISO9660 at CD and DVD. The disk access has basic caching to RAM, without special caching algorithms. I havn't done performance comparisons against Linux or Windows. Compatibility is fine, since I've watched movies in Windows with VLC, when streamed from Menuet server and vice versa watched movies in Menuet, when streamed from Windows server.

And thank you for the compliments :)
