I visited the Hearing Therapist on Wednesday, via Audiology Dept, and the lady who dealt with me was the same wonderful guest speaker at our local Tinnitus group last month. Nadia was patient, kind, reassuring and the first person to actually listen and give me time in amongst all this mess since February. Felt a huge breakthrough.
I now have "new ears" and the R one has a Tinnitus masker also, which I control via my phone. It's incredible how bad my hearing had got, since February, getting used to the external ambient noises, although hearing a woman muttering about her shopping in Aldi to herself yesterday was bizarre, and I could hear a lady clicking her tongue at the back of her throat was weird, but I feel with time my senses will adjust. I feel like I'm shouting at everyone currently, apparently I'm not!
Seeing Nadia every eight weeks now.
Next ENT appointment is at Chatham to see the professor, Nadia says he is absolutely amazing, so I have every confidence there.
I've also started my self referral CBT sessions, via the mental health charity locally, and Fran is so lovely. Should help immensely. She will arrange Counselling sessions after that.
I feel less weepy, so guessing the Anti Depressants maybe kicking in, and I felt more able to cope, and more confident when out aIone yesterday, I can hear so much, so a positive end to the week. Feel I'm finally turning a corner ten months on! I'm learning to delegate and ask for help when I can't do something or cope. Learning it's ok to say no. :0) x
Try and have a positive weekend everyone. Pip xx
