No mate, inside the pylon is an ERU {Ejector Release Unit}. This has usually 2 explosive cartridges that when the pilot selects that station for release, fires said cartridges. Gas travels along pipes to unlock the hooks that are engaged into the suspension lugs on the store {bomb/drop tank/ECM pod} and pistons which extend, ejecting the store away from the pylon.
The reason this system is used, is down to the speeds of the aircraft. as seen in the video, this sometimes goes wrong. This is down to aerodynamics, speed, airflow etc.

Looking at them in general some are separation tests to show up the errors and maybe the MER with the bomb was pilot error in selecting the wrong switch. What do I know as we never used these on buses just ejector seats to get rid of the annoying buggers.
