Yes, only child, never met cousins on my dad's side, he had two sisters, my mum's sister had two boys with whom I never really got on. Blood is thicker than water? Not necessarily!! Haven't spoken with my aunt for nearly 8 years, just nothing in common.

That is not uncommon!   We choose our friends but not our relatives (whether we are atheist or Christian).
