Medigap Policy/drug Plan

My wife and I both have Medigap policies, Plan F, with Mutual of Omaha and are very happy with them. No deductibles and out-of-pocket like UnitedHealthcare's Traditional Indemnity plan. We also have the Medco Part D Value Plan for drugs, with no complaints.

My wife and I are in the process of switching to Mutual of Omaha and Advantra RX plans effective Aug 1.
Do you have any suggestions to make our switch "seamless" from ALU's PFFS to a real policy. The Benefits folks tell me as long as I notify them in July they'll have me and my wife dropped on Aug1. I fully plan to notify them in the next few days so they can't say I didn't give them enough time.

Any horror stories out there from other folks doing this switch, or is it fairly painless.

Any reply would be appreciated.

My wife and I switched during ALU's regular annual open enrollment period during November of last year. I notified a Mutual of Omaha agent and she took care of everything as far as the Medigap policy. I singed up with Medco on their website and did experience some problems, but nothing really of any magnitude. I did find out later that the best way to change the Medicare Part D plan was to go to the Medicare website: http://www.medicare.gov/ and make the change there.

Thanks.

I'm in process of doing it now during my"right of trial" window. I'll let all know if ALU screws this up or not. Supposedly , if I call in July, which I will do tomorrow, they will have enough time to stop my ALU so called coverage by Aug 1 when Mutual of Omaha starts.

I'm not betting the Benefit Group isn't going to mess it up.

I'll post my experience next month.

Be sure to post your experiences for others.
On the benefits team home page(www.lucentretirees.com/benefitsteam), there's links to state Medicare references that provide plan-by-plan cost comparisons in your local area. Also, pointers to Medicare site for prescription drug plans. Also, advice on how to file a complaint with Medco if the PDP plan doesn't get changed - others have reported that the Benefits Center hasn't transmitted your changes to Medco.
