I do miss my 8oz cup of coffee, not sure if it is advisable in the 2ww or first trimester. Just looking for others feedback. Did pick up decaf coffee and tea, but was also told they have so many chemicals that they are not the greatest either. Really miss that little pick me up.

did start drinking a half a cup almost every day with lots of milk after I got my bfp. I have been wondering about this myself, if it's really necessary to abstain either while ttc or while pregnant.

I drank a lot of hot green tea with lots of lemon while ttc and still enjoy a cup from time to time.

I think soft drinks are worse than coffee and agree with you about the decaf stuff.

During my cycle and first trimester. Caffeine is associated with miscarriages, so I tried to keep it as low as possible. My older sister thinks it silly, asserting that the Irish people would have died out long ago if caffeine truly affected fertility, but I'm not Irish, LOL. Maggie (in VA)

I had two DE cycles- the first I did not have any caffeine at all and got a whopping BFN.
The second, I allowed myself to 'live a little' and had one single shot latte and an occasional cup of tea in the afternoon everyday, except during the 2ww. Got a BFP on that cycle and continued with my single shot latte throughout my pg. My OB's guidelines allowed for 2 1/2 shots of espresso a day (can't remember what it equates to in regular coffee).
I found when it came to caffeine, I was better with a little.

aspirin-free Excedrin was a lifeline for me when pregnant. I got headaches pretty much every day but if I nipped them in the bud, could manage with just one pill. That bit of caffeine made a big difference.

..and like the others, only truly abstained during the 2ww. After the 2ww, I started having a cup of half-caf every morning and I may continue doing that from now on (even when not pregnant). It seems to satisfy the caffeine craving and as long as you're careful about which decaffeinated brand you buy, the chemicals shouldn't be any worse than regular coffee.

It was hell as I am a total caffeine head! I just didn't want to take any chances.

So I weened myself from 2 cups of coffee (400) to two cups of green tea (50)....

OK, I'm probably not a good example, but I never gave up caffeine entirely. My RE advised no more than one cup of coffee (or equivalent) per day, so that's what I did during all my treatments. Once I was well into the pregnancy, I'd sometimes have a second one during the day (my OB said it was fine) because I would get so tired. Baby is now a healthy 5-month-old, but he did come early.

(Oh, yeah, and during the 3 days I was in the hospital trying to forestall preterm labor, they brought me fully leaded coffee every morning, not to mention I was on every drug under the sun after being ultra-careful about that for 7 months.)

all the way through my PG. Healthy baby now 2 months old. I will say I didn't have any history of m/c, and I think that's when they are most concerned. I cut out the diet soda and the alcohol, but I figured if it was going to work one cup of coffee would not change that. My Doc agreed.

Good Luck!!
