I have been dealing with an extraordinary level of stress all weekend, enough that my blood pressure has been extremely high at times. I'm only 5 weeks along and now I'm stressed that I will lose the baby from all the stress and high blood pressure...and I feel like it has been crazy high. So now I'm stressing over stress. Can't calm down because I am afraid I have just ruined everything

DH used to screech at me "when will you relax?" "when that baby is in my arms" and you know it was true.

check with your OB asap. see what you can do, meditation etc. to callllllm yourself down with out meds.

I know how you are feeling. All I do is worry. We have no control . Please call your Dr. Maybe there is something he can give you to help. Or maybe there is something he will tell you to calm you alittle. This is all such a wild ride.So many things to think about. I am sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed. Just know you are not alone.xo

What would probably work better for stress is the beta blocker atenolol (which I love when stressed - 12.5 mg works miracles) but I don't know if you can take it when pregnant.

at 5 weeks, i'm assuming you haven't seen the h/b yet? that will ease your mind. sorry i don't know your full history but if you have had m/c's, the worry never really goes away. you haven't ruined anything by stressing. i was at my very worst when i got pregnant the first time, and that turned out just fine. i may have been even worse this time around, but i'm 23 wks and the stress didn't affect a thing. try as hard as you can to decompress. buy some lavender and sniff it, take deep deep breaths, maybe drink some calming tea, like camomile. watch mindless tv. anything to take your mind off of things.

but it does make your life miserable in the meantime. Please don't feel guilty for feeling stressed but do be good to yourself. (( ))

...but I'm prone to anxiety as well, and I've had it in different forms throughout this pg. What helps me are some techniques known as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. Your hospital may offer a course in it; many do. I hope you feel better soon, Maggie.

HI ya,
I'm sorry you are so stressed. I am sure things are ok. Try and find a way to 'keep calm and carry on' as they say in the UK.
Long walks help me or a gentle swim, maybe a walk on the beach or something or in an open meadow by yourself so you can just 'be' for a while.
Let us know how you are please, best, THK

Believe me I would not be a person to normally meditate or go to hypnotherapy - these things were just not me. But when I got so stressed when doing IVF with OE years ago, I just couldn't unwind my mind and my brain was on overdrive of anxiety, so I signed up for a private hypnotherapy session which lasted only about hour including a short interview before the session. The lady burned the session to disc so I could repeat at home at my leisure. It worked for me, and at that time I thought nothing would.

Meanwhile, I really wouldn't worry about the stress affecting your success, I really don't think that has an impact and it is totally normal to be worried.

Hugs to you Maggie, and btw, congrats too. I've been off the boards for weeks and only now catching up. So lovely to read about so many positive outcomes and I am so very pleased for you.
