Feeling discouraged

Well, we started with 5 embryos and as of today only two of them were perfect looking blasts. So...we transferred only one and have the other on ice. If one of these don't take then we are done due to finances. And apparently we're just really unlucky because although we got two great ones they say it's uncommon that the others wouldn't even be close to decent. So I'm not sure if I have just dragged out our ultimate disappointment by only transferring the one but I just can't stand the thought of having no options if things don't pan out this cycle. Also, the blast was starting to hatch, is that ok? Good? Bad?

It sounds as though you tx'd a great-looking blast, so consider yourself PUPO and treat yourself very nicely within the confines of what you can do in your 2ww. Also, if you're religious, I think there's a rosary novena on the EWTN site that should help occupy your time and keep you calm. Take care, Maggie (in VA)

Ok before we started our DE cycle my RE said how many others make it to freezing will have no effect whatsoever on the one embryo we transfer. He said it doesn't matter at all so don't be discouraged if we don't have any to freeze.

You do have a backup frozen embryo and they both look perfect so you have a really good chance. Wishing you luck.

I know it is not an easy decision but I am now convinced it is the wise thing to do. That that baby to full term. Chances are it will work.

It sounds like you transferred a beautiful blast (and it was hatching...all the better). That was similar to our situation. We started with 4 embryos (I think) and ended with 2 blasts. One was perfect, and the dr at transfer (day 5) said the other would be a perfect grade blast by day 6. And when they called me to report, it was. That was frozen. We are now nearly 17 weeks along (and this all comes after a complete bust cycle where I had dismal looking embryos, so we transferred 2 of them on day 3, and obviously had none to freeze).

So don't give up on your little blast and the one on ice. I had always said that it only takes one although it was a hard truth for me to believe, until it happened.

Can't wait to hear from you during and after your 2ww. Will you wait for your beta or poas?

Hi Maggie,
Just go with whatever happens this cycle. You do have a plan b with that other emby. I don't think all embys which become babies are megga embies. I recall a friend of mine saying she put back three (two excellent and one which wasn't growing as fast). She had a little girl eventually and she thinks it was the slower emby (sorry am too tired to recall why she thought this but she is clued so please take my workd for it
See how you go, try to think of a plan c now Maggie just in case but meanwhile as always just sit on the fence with all cycles and be ready to jump either way.
I know its very tough and very hard all this stuff but as my dear mom always said 'just keep going and you will get there'. So possum ... you just keep going ok, best, THK
