I need help feeling ok about the clinic retrieving 9 eggs from the donor today. I wish it were more and am so so so worried about them getting through fertilization.

And it was the BEST cycle ever.

We didn't have anything to freeze, though.

Does that help?

Some REs actually think that the lower stims that bring about fewer eggs mean that the the eggs are higher quality and at just the right stage. If your fertilization is good, you could end up with 7-8 healthy embryos.

Good luck to you! I hope this works out for you.

That does help. It's so hard to give up control and have faith in the process sometimes. But I need to do that if I'm a gonna stay sane. ;p Thank you so much for your reply.

I think quality is more important than quantity. Our donor who was proven on cycles prior to ours produced 10-13 eggs and all three cycles ended with pregnancies. On our cycle she produce nineteen but we only got three embryos (one rated good and two rated fair) despite dh very good SA. I hope tomorrow's fert report brings you some good news and reassurance.

I dont know whether to echo some of our colleagues here or not. i had de produce 16 eggs of these only 4 made it class A(The rest ceases further development) so we agreed with RE instead of freezing one i have the four tranfered andonly one succeeded in My DS. So pray or wish that at least one make it. Sometimes we cannot say which works better probability or statistics.
good luck in your nine month journey

It really is the quality that matters & that is so hard to predict in advance.

We got 8 eggs the 1st time & 6 eggs the 2nd time. Both cycles were successful. We lost no embryos the 1st time, although the 8th egg was immature at retrieval & it remained poor in quality. The other 7 were very good.

The 2nd time, we lost 1 between day 5 & day 6, when my clinic vitrifies. The other 5 were perfect blasts.

We have 2 boys from these cycles (same donor). We got 2 fresh cycles & 3 FETs out of it all, & we have 1 blast still frozen. Honestly, that is better than many cycles where the egg yield starts out higher. (I had one of those, too. 22 eggs, 17 mature, day 3 transfer of 3 mediocre embryos, 1 frozen blast.)

While we obviously had some cycle failures in there, that was a different journey regarding my own issues (immune) & not an issue with the quality of the embryos.

Good luck! I know how hard it is. I melted down with that 1st cycle. With the 2nd, we went in knowing she was a low producer but we wanted a sibling via the same donor, if possible. Still, it was nerve wracking.

They called and let me know that 7 fertilized!!! I'm so so so happy. Well, I'm still a little nervous that they'll all make it to transfer, but I'm still pretty freaking happy!!

Our clinic does 3 day transfers most times so looks like I'm up on Wednesday.

Thanks for your supportive words while I melted down a little bit, ladies.
