Woohoo! So much more in this book than one movie!

Now where do they split it? I predict much Gale badassery.

My first instinct is to say the District 13 part in the first movie, and the attack on the Capitol in the second movie. But I'm not sure there's enough action that way -- though plenty of interpersonal drama.

After reading the EW piece, I like the idea of the first movie having the District 13 Katniss POV sequences as well as the new-to-the-movie Gale-led rescue mission of Peeta, ending with a cliffhanger of Peeta attacking Katniss upon his return. That ensures enough action sequences in the first movie, I think. Then the second movie can have Peeta's recovery, the attack on District 2 (which sets up the schism between Katniss and Gale), and the attack on the Capitol.

I was thinking ending at Gale's gone to rescue Peeta, but what you said is growing on me.

And a Buffy alum will write the script. How weird. (via @GeekyKay retweet of @ClubJade)

Interesting that his work is mostly political stuff. So I guess we'll be seeing some more of the political side?

I like the politics but I'm hoping too we get some more action, some of the fighting elsewhere. Me want to see things blow up :drl:

Reported at The Hob and elsewhere, Frances Lawrence confirmed as director of both Mockingjay movies, as well.

This is actually fanart but it's for a scene in Mockingjay.

Get out your tissues.

Danny Strong has finished Part One and been given approval to start Part Two.

Lionsgate has exercised its option for Danny Strong, who wrote the Emmy-winning HBO movie Game Change, to pen the script for the second part of the company’s adaptation of Mockingjay, the finale of the Hunger Games movie series.

Strong already had written the script for Mockingjay, Part 1 and had a deal to write the script for the second part. But it was always contingent on the studio liking and approving his draft for Part 1.
