Was wondering if you could find more information about this Mike Cilcus. He is in the 1940 Census in Pontiac Michigan. He was living as a lodger and said he was single. Is the name Mykolas in Lithuanian translated to Mike in English ? See what you can dig up for me and maybe I can find out where he fits into my Cilcus family tree. Thanks for your help. Do your special magic for me again.

Norma, Mike/Michael CILSUS appears in the city directories 1939-1941 in Pontiac, Michigan. There is a Social Security Application for a Michael CILSUS born 10 Nov 1881 in "Romania". I could not find a MIchael CILCUS.

I just found a death record for a Mike Celsus on January 21, 1942 in Waterford Oakland Michigan. I think this might be the same person because it says he was born in Romania.

If you look on familysearch.org and type in Mike Cilcus you will see that he is listed as a Border in the 1940 Census. This record also states he was born in Romania.

See what you can make of this mess because there were a few Mykolas Cilcius who were born in Lithuania and just maybe we can put these pieces together and see where he belongs in my tree.

Thanks for what you have found so far. Keep up the good work.

p.s. I also found a Josef Cilsus who immigrated and arrived in 1900 in the New York Passanger Record. I tried to read it but the writing is very difficult. I think it says he was going to see his cousin Leo Cilcus but am not sure if this is correct. I cannot even read the state where he is going. Maybe you can find out more for me.

Thanks and take care.

Norma, I read the name the same way. Leo lived on Lafayette St in Patterson, New Jersey.
