The 2001 Lithuanian Census lists the village as having no inhabitants.

Here is a URL for more info:

There are two locations for Jure - one is close to Kajackai, the other is on the main railway line. also Jure is the name of the river in the region.

Donna,

Here is a link to the administrative district in which the village you asked about is located. The list of place names in this district shows two locations named Jure.

Jure k. = Kaimas = village has 558 people

Jure mstl = "small city" has 473 inhabitants.

Hello"
Thanks, so which Jure is closest to Kajackai? The one with the 473
inhabitants?

Thanks for the link.

My husbands grandfather said he was from Jure, but recently I have
obtained info that his sister was born in Kajackai. So I am thinking
the family moved from Kajackai to Jure.

Try www.maps.lt to see where the two Jure locations are.

It's likely he said Jure since that was the nearest "big" town since Kajackai no longer even exists.

Hi Tom:
Thanks for the map. Can you show me a map with both Kajackai and Jure
on the same map?

Thanks

Donna

P.S. I see Jure river.

Go to the link below:

http://www.maps.lt/map/default.aspx?lang=lt#q=Jure

One Jure is about 3 kilometers due north of Kazlu Ruda and is near the Jure River (Upe in Lithuanian).

The other Jure is about 8 kilometers due east of Kazlu Ruda right along the railroad line.
