As you may have ascertained, John Peters, has passed away. The Little Lithuania list is one of several places where he will be greatly missed. I feel privileged to have known him, and doubly so, because I was able to meet him in person.

I wanted to forward this information that was posted on the LGGS list yesterday. This still feels somewhat surreal to me, because there is a post from John less than a week ago.

Thank you for notifying us. This is sad news especially as his last post was only 6 days ago.

He will be missed greatly as he was a fountain of knowledge on Lithunian names and language.

May God rest his soul.

Yes, it is very sad that John has passed away. He was such a wealth of knowledge in helping everyone in tracing their ancestry, and adding historical facts for people searching for their Lithuanian roots. I would always wait for John's input on this web site when someone ran into a dead end in their search.
I wish that I knew a bit more about John and his personal life as I will certainly miss him. I would appreciate it if his obituary could be posted on this site.

Oh wow, I just entered the Little Lithuania world, and he was so helpful to me. I appreciate the short time that I interacted with him and the knowledge he shared.

It is so hard to believe that John is gone. I always counted on him to solve my problems, and he always did solve them. What a sad loss this is.

Sorry to hear of John's passing - he was always helpful and set me down a path with my research that I never would have found if it hadn't been for him. RIP.

Very saddened by this news -- he was very kind and generous with his time. I will always be grateful to him.
