Intro - Tired of my DBW entering limp mode where the "M-Mode light" will flicker and the throttle only opens 20% at WOT.
During hot summer temps in Australia this was causing the car to enter limp mode when doing 110kms on the freeway. Resolution was to pull over on hard shoulder. Turn car off remove key then start up again.
Spare parts and throttle bodies would have been the logical replacement but nobody wrecks the IS300 or sells just throttle bodies. They sell Engine Package as full with no parts taken off.
There are also other differences with AUDM delivered vs USDM. Such as OBD2 not Compliant required for cars up to 2006+
Enter the Premium Japan 2JZGE JCE10 Kit. (Instructions - ThrottleConversionKitJCE10)
$3XX USD 3 days shipping from Japan. You essentially receive an APS bypass plate that has been engineered to high quality and precision.
For a complete stock throttle plate follow all instructions as per manual. For those on turbo applications where the throttle plate has been drilled to increase idle without using an after market idle up control valve skip this step as it will raise the idle around 1200RPM+ in neutral position.
Installed Japan Throttle kit. Pedal feels heavier at tip in like a diesel hi hilux surf. Follow instructions! and do not over tighten parts. Measure twice.
E-shift manual shift controls still work
Traction control still works after speeds of 40kms VSC and TRC stabilise the car.
Cruise control still works
Snow and Power modes still works.
Heavier pedal feel at tip in. Car will take off smoother in traffic due to this unless you stab the throttle 80% then it will chirp the wheels.
This delete kit still allows the APS/Throttle Motor to control idle, cruise control etc. It only modifies the throttle gear to allow 100% manual control. It includes a reference plate and home position for the APS, a DBW gear replacement, and TPS plate.
