I'm having some issues with the personal import plate.
Niddrie will not issue one unless it has been inspected by an engineer, however on the rta's site it says personal imports do not have to show proof the meet the adr's??
Did you have to get your car inspected?

Yep, that's what I found.

Just a blue slip inspection was all it needed.

But it was very hard to find out what exactly was the truth, everyone had a different opinion.

And I still keep coming back to the Altezza Club... Great post Keith, never thought I'd be needing it though!

I'm moving to Melbourne, and so have to decide if it's worth the hassle of moving the 2004 Audi S4 with me. Worth about NZD40k in NZ, gotta have a looksee at prices over Oz (edit: quick google says AUD48ish) and decide if I sell it back in NZ or put it on the ship... The other problem is that I haven't quite owned it for 12 months yet.

I'm sure you can squeeze a bit of flexibility in the 12months if you are back and forwards a couple of times.

They are more worried about making sure you are moving to Aussie, not just coming over on holiday to sell a car, than they are checking how long you've owned it I think.

When are you moving? I'll catch up with you when I get down there again.

Melbourne.... cold, wet miserable... more part of Tasmania than part of Aussie!! :D

Hi All,

Sorry to bring up an old post but has anyone exported/imported their car recently, more so to Perth? I'm asking because its been a few years and somethings may have changed other than the price I suspect
Also, do you have to be in Aus to see to all the docs or can you do it from NZ?

Thanks guys
Ezza (this name seems to flow better than Era ) :ph43r:

I got a quote a while ago, Adelaide to Auckland was AUD$2600, so it hasn't gone up massively in cost for transit.

Premature acceleration can lead to catastrophic outcomes.
