Not football related but....

Remember winter of 1981? Watching news has reminded me of when I was a kid and our street in Heckmondwike was totally blocked by snow and cars and couldn't get anywhere. Never seen owt like it since, apart from Kettlewell in 2004 but that was Dales for ya.

I live up Hightown, remember it well, jumping off the wall in Hightown Rec
into the snowdrift and disappearing, must have been 6foot deep, old man
was a milkman, used to have to tie milk crates to a sledge and use that to
get up the streets that were too bad to drive up

Lol.. We used to snowball the milkman's truck. When he gave chase the other lads would get his eggs and orange juice from the cart. Good times.

Same as Mr gedge, first house next to school, like you say regards the snow back in t' day, enough said.
The 81 snowfall even Halifax town centre got about a 4 inch covering when normally it dosent get any.
I'm over at ellesmere port and although its been bitterly cold we've had very little snow.

Hardly any snow here, though judging by the way the shelves have been emptied in Tesco and the number of people unable to get to work you'd think it was the late 70s in January.

From a country that once conquered the world to one that perishes after 3 inch of snow and a cold wind......
