As far as I can remember, we took the three buses and the mini van, from The Smiths. This was all proper Leeds lads, Bramley, EEP, Harehills, Wortley, Beeston, Seacroft and a few Feth and that. Some of the older lot and a lot of mostly what were tongue in cheek called the VYT. Think I was 17. Long story short, one bus got into Sheffield, one got yanked plus the mini bus, ours got pulled but we all fucked off out the back door and rang off by those flats. Good mob, RB on our bus, S and his mates from Liverpool, few older ones and some very game younger ones. Not a mob to run in short. I think we took a good mob as you lot had a bit of a rep and it was the first time at yours. That's a compliment. Take it as such.

We met a mob of about 40 of yours near the ground, there was no stand off everyone, Leeds and Sheff United piled straight in. Got broken up by the cops who tried splitting us up, 'Leeds that way, Sheffield that way shouts the head honcho on horse back.' 'Which way do we go shouts one of the scousers?' He just rolled his head not sure what was going on. If these weren't your boys they were a very game bunch of not your boys.

About 20 of us didn't have tickets and stayed outside until the gates opened for the last 20 minutes or so. One cop on a motor bike kicked Wayne H up the arse and offered him out. What can you do? Later learned another mob had had a row in pub near by but apparently it wasn't football lads involved. Got in for the last 20 or so, stood near the back of the away stand in the corner near your big stand on the right facing the pitch.People spouting off on both sides, good atmosphere. After the match saw Griff surrounded by a few of yours, up against the wall. E, S, and Angie flew in and the 4 of them had your lot on their toes. It was going off pretty much everywhere and fair play to you lot for that.

Walked back to the train station and got split up from our mob. Walked round a corner, me, C from Bramley, a lad on crutches and a couple of others, couple of hundred of your lot down the road. It was going off everywhere, sirens, mairas in first gear flying everywhere. Great day. Your lot see us and we see a big mob of ours behind us heading our way. Yours are getting closer and closer so too are ours. We're making daft faces, fingers over lips and that to ours trying not to give it away. Our lot come round the corner and set off after yours who don't run but don't run to meet us either. It's your lot on the back foot fighting all the way but we are the ones going forward. Good scrap to be honest. Cops have got wind of it and they are arriving in numbers. Some cunt fired that flare and I hit the deck, got picked up by a cop and slammed against a maria then thrown in an escort. It was going off down all the side streets all the way to the station.

Honestly, I don't give a fuck who claims a result. It was a great day out full stop. That lad with the head busted open, I never knew him but saw him and his lot most everywhere. I heard a load went from Wakefield on the train but can't say for sure, obviously. I know they weren't with ours setting off from Leeds. I've debated this with your man Cowans before today and he doesn't deny any of it. Still can't account for why he left it out of his book but I think you'll agree, it's a more balanced account of what really went on more than 20 years ago. And before we get round to the old 300 in your seats just think about it we certainly made ourselves known at yours. Would 30 of you have stayed outside for 3/4s of the match at Elland Road?

Not knocking you, I think the Blades were a decent mob but there's a lot of shit in Cowans book.

top post mate. but you wont be believed by some of the dicks on here according to them. you controlled every pub and ran us all the way to the station.

your wrong about steves book tho mate he gives it a full chapter.

an extract

page 57

around 150 leeds had broken away from the overworked police and reached the bottom of the moor. as around 100 of us spread over 100 yards headed into town a huge roar went up. leeds poured around the corner outside the moorfoot tavern. i was 20 yards from our front boys who were trying to repel the attack. i ran up and traded. buz a mixed raced blade was captured as leeds backed us off. a few of us went to his aid and 3 distress flares were fired. police came just in time as it was "on top" for us. but for police intervention we would have struggled.

now i cant see where he's bigging us up there and slating you.

Stand corrected, don't remember reading that. Has he got two books out? Or has every other we ran Leeds story just merged into one? Maybe I was getting confused after debating the night game in 85 v Everton with that lad of their's?
Whatever, I've posted it as I saw it, others may disagree. The lads on our coaches, if they weren't our boys at the time, I don't know who were.

The bbc book regarding Grimsby in London on the Euston rd is pure fiction, we bumped into similar numbers and easily had the better off it, I assume it was utds main players mr cow horns started well but soon didn't fancy it when he realised we were not only not going to budge but insisted on coming forward. They even got the old bill involved which again I was surprised at considering these lads have regularly terrorised us in Cleethorpes over the years. I suppose the difference this time like all mobs is everyone present was respected and tried and tested so none of us felt half hearted. In fairness I suppose he's only trying to make a buck but our paragraph was total bollox

As far as I can remember most of the incidents between us took place at theirs rather than ours, which speaks volumes in terms of who had the most intent, particularly when they're always saying how much they hate us. I notice that the time when they had a few lads in the Lowfields seats seems to have gone down in BBC folklore as them somehow "taking the Lowfields". Perhaps any Blades reading this might like to give their account of this incident because that's certainly not how I remember things panning out. I reckon Bradford have given a far better account of themselves at ours than the Blades ever did.

The last major incident between us that I can remember was when we stopped off in Sheffield with a good 50 or so on the way back from Forest. We'd been wrapped up in a pub in Nottingham since the morning and the Nottingham Old Bill ensured hardly anything had happened all day, so the day had been an anti climax, particularly as Forest had embarassed us a couple of times at ours beforehand. Someone on the train mentioned they'd took a slap from some BBC lads the previous week, so it was decided we'd pay them a visit. We took it to them in and around a couple of pubs, one of which was the Banker's Draft, I can't remember the name of the other one but what I can remember was the chaos going on when you made it down the stairs. Chairs, tables, punches and everything that could be thrown was thrown. In fairness the BBC that were in there put up a decent show but there's no way you could describe it as anything but a good result for us. I think every single Leeds lad that got nicked for the incident ended up doing time. Usually when the Old Bill turned up it was down to luck whether you got nicked out of the crowd or not but everyone who ended up getting coralled found themselve nicked. I can remember being grabbed and told to get in the queue to have the plastic cuffs put on but I kept on walking and was just waiting for another hand on my shoulder and to be told to get back in line but it never came. No idea how I made around the corner without being nicked but when I did I bumped into another couple of Leeds lads and we just dived into the nearest cab and fucked off back to the station.

I was chatting to a Blades lad watching England in Rome not long after and he said they absolutely were gutted about being turned over. I also remember speaking to some Wednesday lads and they'd all heard about it too and were pissing themselves at the fact that we'd given it them. As has already been mentioned, I reckon they're a good mob but we've definitely had by far and away the best of the encounters between us.

i dont think lads are always bullshitting in the books , with the likes of leeds

chelsea and others , there used to be a few different mobs , so someone like pompi or millwall

scatter a mob of donny whites, then thats it they have done leeds or so they think

in a big game there used to be 2-3 big mobs roaming about esp in london.
