Age of extremes

Age of Extremes follows an array of British Muslims from different socio-cultural backgrounds and viewpoints, discussing the War on Terror, its implications for British Muslims and impact on community cohesion.

From the author: I made this documentary because I felt that the programmes broadcast by the mainstream media had not adequately or honestly addressed the issue of the root causes of what is called Islamic extremism.

Since the inception of the so-called War on Terror, I felt British Broadcasters had made no real attempt to investigate or educate their viewers about the phenomenon, instead they have sought to reinforce the same stereotypes that were peddled to the public by the New Labour Government.

In my opinion, what is different about this documentary is that we question the scale of the perceived threat and to what extent the British establishment sought to manipulate public opinion.

This is from Duncan Campbell's award-winning and explosive BBC video documentary series 'Secret Society' (1987). This episode about secret cabinet committees features author Peter Hennessy, Clive Ponting and Clement Freud MP amongst others. In this freedom of information tour de force Campbell exposes the secret decision to buy U.S. Trident nuclear submarines as well as laying bare the cabinet level dirty tricks campaign against CND and its general secretary Bruce Kent. Margaret Thatcher, James Callaghan, the British Atlantic Committee, The ultra-right Coalition for Peace Through Security and the cabinet secretary come in for sharp criticism for keeping key decisions secret from Secretaries of State as well as MP's.
His support for this series was one of the key reasons BBC Director General, Alasdair Milne (who was replaced by Michael Checkland, an accountant) was sacked. This Journalistic Coup d'Etat was conducted by Lord Victor Rothschild, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Marmaduke Hussey in 1986. The BBC's independence has been under sustained assault ever since. Secret Society was suppressed from high above since it was simply too controversial as it openly exposed various secret groups operating invisibly inside British government. They made damn sure noone would ever discover them but they were very wrong. Find out who they are and what are they doing without your knowledge. Duration 30 minutes, producer Brian Barr.

A documentary about the City of London and its bizarre constitutional separateness. It's not online yet but it's being screened in various places.

All episodes of Duncan Campbell's Secret Society series are now available online, including episodes 5 & 6 which were missing from what was floating around on the web a few years ago. Campbell's vimeo channel features every episode except the untransmitted episode 1 (refered to by Bridget a couple of posts above) about secret cabinet committees.

Also on Campbell's vimeo channel is the Channel 4 remake of the secret cabinet committees episode, plus The Zircon Affair, a 1988 discussion program hosted by Ludovic Kennedy which also featured a belated premier of the Zircon episode (more details here).

The police raids in which the master tapes of the series were seized were apparently because of the episode about the Zircon spy satellite, but I would have thought that the one about secret cabinet committees was the real target with Zircon being a deliberate misdirection. Interestingly, it appeared to me that one of the interviews in the secret cabinet committees episode ends somewhat abruptly, suggesting that perhaps something incriminating was edited out before the tapes were handed back. The blurb on Campbell's channel states: "After Special Branch returned the tapes for the 1987 Secret Society series, the BBC kept the final programme on secret and unaccountable cabinet committees and refused to release it. Several years later, Duncan remade the episode for Channel 4 using the transcripts from the original episode."

As a result of TV interviews filmed with officials, particularly Sir Ronald Mason, the government's chief scientist, the government became aware that Campbell knew about the project. Shortly before the programme was due to be transmitted, in January 1987 the New Statesman published an account of Zircon. This triggered Special Branch police raids on the BBC offices in Glasgow, the offices of the New Statesman, and the homes of Campbell and his researchers, Jolyon Jenkins and Patrick Forbes. Master tapes were removed from the BBC, the government obtained an injunction preventing transmission of the programme, and the BBC postponed the transmission of the entire series. Four episodes were transmitted in April and May 1987, and the Zircon programme was transmitted separately in September 1988. The sixth episode, titled Cabinet, was held back indefinitely, and eventually remade and broadcast by Channel 4 in April 1991.

London 7/7 in music & song - Global Parasite: Seven Seven

The things you find out on the David Icke Forum ...

I had no idea that anyone had covered the London Bombings in music.

See this post at the DIF on the "Truth in Music" thread: Global Parasite: Seven Seven

You Tube Video: Global Parasite

Complete with Peter Power sample ...

Seven Seven by Global Parasite.

Let's make poverty history
It's all over the radio, net and T.V
Us politicians really care
But first let's make them really scared.
So they'll forget about hunger and third world debt
They think the nasty terrorist is gonna chop off their heads
They think that there's an enemy, peace is gone
King Star limited rig up the bomb.
Three explosions simultaneous
For an hour they say it's a power failure
Another bomb rips the roof off a bus
Now it's pretty clear to us
700 injured 56 dead.
"Mind the gap" a policeman said
metal pointing upwards to indicate
The bombs were planted under the train.
There's not a single pictures of these four men about
Except for in Luton which is thirty miles out
And three of their faces are all obscured
Simple bits of evidence the media ignored
Covenant of security no longer exists
MI5 agent Bakri firmly commits
Blatant psychological false flag attack
Paid for by the tax payers, they won't get their money back.
They planned Tavistock square for their final detonation
Most people unaware of the same name institution [ The Tavistock Institute ]
A hundred year old mind control organisation
State sponsored subliminal mind alteration
Inside joke but I'm not laughing
It wasn't Blair's kids who's faces got smashed in
Look at the detail look at the evidence
FIGHT FOR JUSTICE, MAKE A STAND FOR THE VICTIMS!

Marvellous.

An important piece of awareness for the You Tube generation.

Well done to them.
