@johnsow30 and @bigoldirtychev - I'm realizing the spot being nearly gone myself too. Especially when I comb/brush the hair underneath forward to make more of a full look. The hairs on my chin are basically growing over that area to make it look as if there never was a bald spot there to begin with. There are also a few hairs growing within there!

@Steveoz I'm very thankful to be marrying a very supportive soon to be wife !!

@baldbandit The confidence is surely growing with me.

Thank you everyone for the continued encouragement, beard on.

Hey mate, your beard is coming along nicely. It has already started to fill in.

Just set small goals for your beard like first goal should be week 13 mark. And then plan accordingly.

I am sure u will be proud of your mane.

It's filling in nicely! Soon you'll be wondering why you even worried about that "bald spot ".

Grow on!!

What should I do with my mustache? The fiancé isn't liking the fact the hairs above the upper lip are curving over rather going to the side no matter what I do.

Should I trim the hairs so they don't grow over? Or should I trim them so they don't grow over AND trim the sides (fake connectors per se)

I know what you mean, interested to hear responses too.

I had lots of odd hair curling over my top lip before I registered on here, I decided to trim them all even just to the edge of the top lip to make it tidy. Then I found out the general advice is to let them continue to grow and sweep to the sides.

Mine are not long enough to sweep to the sides, but they were long enough to be uneven and messy over the top lip, which I did not like.

My own logic said, trim them all even at the top lip then they should grow out even, but I don't think that is the case.

I think most people will say let them grow and try to train them to the sides, which you could do for now, you still have time, and if you feel it isn't working by the wedding and you want to tidy up you could then still trim before the big day to make them even?

@steveoz That's exactly what I was going to do, depending on what they are like nearing the wedding. I try balm, and constantly pushing them to the side throughout the day to try and train them but the stragglers that don't want to drift to the side are annoying to say the least.

If I were to trim, should I keep the 'fake connectors' that you see in the above photos? Or if I trim should I cut them off too and only keep the Mustache above the lip?

Looking forward to reading everyone's responses!

I must confess to nipping off one or two on the outer edge that just wanted to go totally the wrong direction.

I think you need to keep as much as you can, then re-visit at the latest possible time before the wedding. Anything you get rid of now will just have to start over.

My input would be to trim as little as possible and see how you like it. You can always trim more later. Also, trimming the mustache is not the end, and you can always just let it go again at a later time to try for a sweeping mustache.

Another week down, one more to go to see where this thing on my face stands after 13 weeks. The pictures aren't the greatest, as the lighting is different on each and just ends up having my progress appear with different density.

I don't see much improvement other than it becoming curly and not laying down flat/straight. I even have been using beard balm and it just doesn't cooperate.

really filling in now. I think another week or so and it may start obeying you better. The moustache problems you mentioned above are very similar to the ones I was having, and similar to my wife's discontent with the hairs being over my lip. Stick with what works for you, it's a solid beard either way and will continue to grow well

Looking good, Zero! You already have a nice beard in my opinion. It looks so much more full from the front now than on your previous pics, and so inspiring to see how that patch under your chin has covered up completely. Curly is cool - keep growing!

Well everyone, 13 weeks is finally here. Few things I want to mention - I thoroughly enjoy the front look, as it appears I am bearded, but the minute I look at my cheeks, specifically my left side I am not happy. It doesn't look like much is even happening there.

Underneath the chin filled in quite well, and I've mastered the concept of combing underneath outward to give more of a "fuller" look.

I didn't think I'd make it this far as most of the time I reach 7 weeks I end up shaving as I look hideous. I'm not going to take credit for making it this far, as the willingness came from all of the kind words within the forum from each and everyone of you. Outside of this being a beard forum, it's nice to know so much positivity exists when helping someone cope with their self conscious ability of their image.

I'm 2 weeks out from the wedding, so we will see what happens with this thing on my face then.

Alright I'm done talking, let me know what everyone thinks about the progress pictures. Before and Last!

Congratulations on making the 13 weeks.I suggest you do one of two things:

1.  Wait longer to see how your upper cheeks do with a little more time.

2.  Carve you cheek lines lower into a Ryker style, make the most the growth you have.

I suggest option 2 since you have a wedding in 2 weeks, but I also suggest you retry your cheeks in a year or two to see how they may have matured and thickened.

Congratulations on reaching 13 weeks!  For me and a lot of other guys, 13 weeks is not the end of the journey.  It took me til around 6 months before I was happy with my beard.

Congrats! Looking great.

Two more weeks to go, so it will continue to grow and fill out from what I have seen on here. If you feel the cheeks need longer than you have then go for a ryker as Sly said. The ryker is a great look, and I am already contemplating one later down the line if I get my circle beard fuller and want to try and stretch itout more.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I may go for the Ryker, it all depends on what sort of progress happens within the next 2 weeks.

Although I'm quite certain I'm just going to shave it off and maintain a chinstrap with my mustache at a little thicker than stubble look that I've always had. At least until I allow my facial hair to mature for a few more years.
