Pertaining to PCs, is there any way to set it so focus doesn't automatically go to the reply box? (the box I'm typing in right now to post this message)
It's annoying to automatically go to the bottom of a thread. I haven't read it yet, why would I want to reply?

As I'd mentioned, I'm not on a smart phone. I'm using a PC. I'm not finding any setting involving Quick Reply Bar.

Hi mate, I've had a look and see what you mean! Quite annoying. I've only found a very temporary fix for this.
At the bottom of the thread:
Image
Change the ascending/descending order of the thread and back again, seems to halt that jump to reply box for the next couple threads you view but it does revert back to that annoying jump to reply soon after.
I'll forward a message to admin to see if they can help on a permanent fix.

TruckerGuy,

If you click on the thread title (not the page number or the arrow beside the last poster), it will take you to your last unread post in the thread.

I've just come to the party to tapatalk. It's different than the yuku board as you likely know. A couple of questions: Is there the ability to "quote back" to articles on the board? Is the new tapatalk not available for RSS readers? Are the post counts zeroed out on tapatalk or is everyone now the same as everyone else? This interface seems very "bare bones" to me. It does not appear that you are able to format your replies. So far I am not impressed. Seems like a step backwards to migrate to tapatalk. I thought if you were a subscriber you would not see ads. Apparently not.

Are you asking these questions for the app or the desktop version of the site? (I realise this is the APP guide, but I just want to be sure.) I know more about the desktop version, you see ūüôā

OK, then let me see if I can give you some answers.

1) When you talk about quote back to articles, do you mean add links to outside articles or quote posts? If it is the first, it is important to use the Full Editor option and not just the quick reply box. Then you will have a pretty standard WYSIWYG editor, with normal options for inserting links, etc. If it is the second, you just have to click "reply" in the post you want to quote and the Full Editor will open with the quoted text in it. If you mean something else, please specify.

2) I am afraid I have no idea bout RSS readers as I have never used RSS. However, it seems like many others have discussed this issue before. Check out this Google search.

3) The post counts are not zeroed out. If you hold your mouse pointer over a member's avatar, you will see their post count. The count seems to be a bit less than it was on Yuku and we think it is because Yuku included posts from deleted threads in your count, while Tapatalk seems not to. So everyone's status is basically the same as before.

4) Formatting replies relies on you choosing the Full Editor option.

5) As far as ads are concerned, I know Jeff is looking into options there.

I can understand that such a big change can seem like a step back, and not everything will be exactly the same on the new platform, but remember that Yuku was not without its problems. There was a lot of downtime, several times when posts were lost and it was often very sluggish. So far Tapatalk is much faster at least. Lets try to stay positive and hope that any wrinkles after the transition get ironed out soon.

Finally, I think I will split this bit off so we can have a separate Q&A thread for the Desktop version.

For those of you having trouble inserting images into posts in the new desktop interface. Before we get our Posting Essentials library updated, here is a short tutorial:

1) Be sure that you are using the full WYSIWYG editor. In other words, do not use the quick reply box at the bottom of the page. You must either a) start a new topic, b) Click the button under the quick reply box that says "Full Editor & Preview" or c) click on "Reply" inside a post in a topic that you want to quote in your reply.

2) Once the WYSIWYG editor is open, you select "Insert an image" from the menu bar at the top.

Insert_image_01.jpg 3) Now you can choose to either link to an image using a URL (if you have your images hosted on another site such as Dropbox etc.). You just paste in the URL and click "Insert".

Insert_image_02-01.jpg 4) Or you can choose to upload a photo as an attachment.
Insert_image_02.jpg
Once you have uploaded the file as an attachment, you need to select "Place inline" to get the image to appear in your post. It will be placed at the point where your cursor is in your post.
Insert_image_04.jpg And now you have some images in your post ūüėČ

Hey Smedstad, thank you so much for this very helpful lesson! I had not known this little tutorial was here until I saw your mention of it in another post this evening. There will be questions and frustrations for a while, but I'm sure that in the end, this transition will work out fine and the challenges that seem so big right now will become a faint memory. Many thanks to all the moderators for working to make this as easy as possible for the rest of us.

It's been a couple weeks or so since we've migrated from yuku board to tapatalk. I've had to "adjust" my accessing the board. When we were on yuku I looked at forums using an RSS <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS> reader. Since tapatalk does not appear to support it I have had to use a more traditional way to read forums. Rather than having to type www.tapatalk.com/jeffsbeardboard I've been just typing the URL beardboard.com . Most of the time it will take me straight to tapatalk beardboard forums. Sometimes though it will not and give me an error message. When it does I can just click on the beardboard logo in the middle of the beardboard.com page and it will take me to the forums. I do not understand why most of the time if I go to beardboard.com it will take me right to the forums while other times it will make me do the extra step of clicking on the beardboard link on the page. Any ideas why this happens? Any other ideas for quick access to beardboard other than making a bookmark?

I've had this issue, it's either a connection problem or photos are too big and need reducing. Plenty of photo shrinking apps for phones

While yuku links should automatically redirect to its corresponding tapatalk links, I went ahead and updated the forwarding for beardboard.com so hopefully that should become more consistent now.

Same applies with beardboard.net as well

Ah, so I guess this was a question for the desktop Q&A. I'll move these few posts to the correct thread. I don't have a mac, but have you tried using another browser just to see if you still have the same problem?

Resizing the photo smaller worked!
