I’ve heard a lot of beardsmen say that you should rock a beard that is right for your face shape. Also I’ve heard your height plays a part in how long your beard should be. Shorter guys should wear shorter beards. And taller guys can wear super long beards. What are your guys opinions on this? I’m 5’5 and growing my yeard either way. I just want to hear people’s standpoint on this?

It think it all depends on your goal and the look you're after.  I can see some logic in those adages but I don't think any man 'should' follow any of them.  Grow your beard to whatever length and style you want.

Also, keep in mind that genetics will play a huge role here.  Many guys who want a really long beard simply can grow one and many guys who want a short, groomed beard have to work daily to maintain it.

Grow your yeard and do it with pride and confidence.  Along the way you'll learn what's right for you.

Cheers!

Hi,
I have also once read a similar thing, namely that short guys with a long beard might look like a dwarf or gnome. Well, this would greatly increase chances to get to a casting for the next Hobbit/LOTR movie (will there be another one?) :)
I am 5'4'' and have a full beard, but actually I do not like if to be too long, at most a few inches. But actually it is just a matter of personal taste. And, beard or not, where I live I will always look dwarvish as the average height of guys here is around 6'  -  but it does not bother me.
It is all a matter of self-confidence.

Interesting -- I've never heard anyone mention any connection between height and beard length. My guess is that few guys will ever grow their beards long enough for that to really become an issue anyway. And what would really be the difference? There's only about a foot of difference between what would normally be considered a very short and a fairly tall man, and if you translated that into relative beard length, you'd only be talking about what, maybe 4 inches or so? Hardly enough to fundamentally change one's appearance in my opinion.

Do what you want to do, and don't let stereotypes or over-generalizations get in your way. You'll be able to decide if you think you've let your beard get too long (for you) or not.

Cheers!

Actually I posed this question on the board years ago when, as my beard was reaching the 5-to-6-inch range, I wondered if I appeared to others as if my beard was too long for my height. I was "chastised" (not literally!) into recognizing that I should wear whatever beard length I wanted.
.
But it was a serious question, and I still wonder about it at times. I used to be about 5-10, 5-10 1/2ish. But now I am 5-7 1/2. I have really bad scoliosis, an S-curve that is getting worse with age and gravity -- i.e., simply living. The curves are compressing, and my torso is becoming more and more compacted. (Yes, it's painful.) So I'm even more conscious of people's thoughts about the length of my beard.

I am NOT attempting to compensate for my height by growing a longer beard, though, for any amateur psychologists out there. Har har har.
