Hey Tom,

Actually in those photos still drying off from getting out the shower and there is no products or taming going on. I still don't think it responds well to the products I have but I've been combing it with a fine tooth comb hoping that continued effort and length will win the day lol. I think a few more weeks and it will be at a length i'll be able to distribute the wax through it a lot better.

Glad you're still with us Knottz, everything overall looks thicker this week and I'm sure that stache will give in to your demands soon enough - looks good!

Keep up the good work.  You can do it.  I know it.  You are worth it, and your beard will be a keeper.

Hey guys,

Friends and family don't mind the beard but they all think I should trim the tash, what do you guys think? - If i do trim it, is it easy to mess up?

Hey

Don't listen to them, leave the stash, with length the weight will make it lay down, which will look neater. Just keep growing, but if you do decide to trim, give it a few days before you do. You might change your mind.

Rumen

Keep strong, Knottz. I can see why the mustache would be a bother to you. "Just keep growing" is easier said than done but we started our beard journeys at the same time more or less and I would hate to see you do some trimming that could hamper your progress and make you more prone to shaving everything off. Do what makes you comfortable above all else, though. The cheeks are filling in well and the jawline patches are getting covered so that's mighty encouraging!

Your mustache is freaking awesome.  I know it is a bother now, but a little time will take care of it.  I know gravity will continue to take care of it with a little time.  But look at how nice it is on the side, and the really nice tips you are getting.  As your stache grows, it will be a great crown over the rest of your beard.  I am impressed how nice your beard is, and how well you are doing it.
Grow on.

@Noivilbo - Thanks mate, a good point you make is about how trimming it could cause me to feel like i've screwed the whole thing and want to cut it all so i'll remind myself about that if it ever comes close again, I literally had scissors to it yesterday but didn't cut anything in the end!

@Tom - Haha I quite like the moustache despite comments off friends/family and the fact it gets in the way when drinking, i'd embrace it more if it would just let me tame it somewhat, hoping gravity and time does the trick... I was at my step-dads 50th on saturday and I had a lot of comments, mostly referencing the tash which I think got in my head quite a lot. Remaining strong! Thanks for the ongoing support and motivation bud.

The comments from family are because they don't know you this way.  You are not their little boy any more.  I have to tell you how my father treated me when I traveled home the 1200 miles from college for Christmas break, when my beard had been growing from the first week of September til I got home.  He said every word in the book, told me to shave that"@#$%" off, was going to shave it off himself.  Told me he wouldn't be seen with me in public, and yada yada yada.  My dad had always been abusive in some ways, but I realized that I was in charge of myself.  That was the part of my journey, when I realized I was a man.  I didn't do anything bad, and in fact I have done quite well with myself, getting several degrees, making my life happy, serving churches for many years, nice wife, 2 kids, both now engineers, a vineyard in Argentina, one in Texas, and all of it with my beard....and stache that doesn't always mind.  People respect me, because I am me.

Now probably the comments weren't so offensive, and your journey is different, but be strong with what you want.  I think your stache looks like it will be  "freaking awesome".  As for drinking, it gets easier with length.

Sounds like you've had quite the life Tom. I had my fair share of shady father figures in the past, my mother has mostly poor choice in men! Her current partner/husband is thankfully, great. I can't fault the guy and have a lot of respect for him. My biological father passed when I was just a baby, however the one photo I do have of him he sports a moustache haha! I have no idea if he could have grown a beard. Anyway, when my auntie saw my face on saturday she said (only in jest) "Reminds me of a 70's porn tash". Which it no doubt probably does to a certain extent but that's not going to bother me lol. It's just in general the tash does irritate me a lot lately and i've yet to see someone in person and look at the tash and not think "the hell you doing?" hopefully that will change in the future. I've never been one to conform to other peoples ideas of what looks right.

I should be getting week 8 update on tomorrow, don't think i'm too busy.

Hey guys, camera was taking shoddy photos today, I think the energy saving bulbs don't work very well. Did my best to increase the brightness on these photos but still wasn't very happy with them so will take new ones tomorrow for the natural light and put them on the original post. However i'll add the ones I took today to this post. (My patches look completely gone in these photos, I wish! - Confident they will eventually though)

Hey sir:
I just tuned in, and saw your update.  Don't let anybody kid you into thinking that your mustache isn't a totally awesome crown to your beard.  It is really looking good, but your whole beard has now filled in so well.  And you still have time to go, before you set your next goal at 13 weeks.  I am really impressed, and would be soooooooooooooo disappointed if anything were to happen to your beard, but continue to grow it out.  Your mustache is the best part of all.
Keep it all growing.

I'm a little more optimistic that it will fill in nicely by week 13. Fingers crossed. Thanks again for the kind and motivating words Tom!

Indeed plenty of time left. The things I'd do to have your moustache. It's really spectacular, take pride in it. It'll only get better with time, stay strong and be encouraged, you're making great progress!

Hey Knottz, just checked your update, beard looks great - you're doing better than me hehe.
I can understand your concern with the stache but it's entirely up to how you feel with it. It actually looks like it's starting to lay down now so the extra growth has definitely helped and now it should start to be easier to train to the sides.
Just keep applying conditioner everyday, before you go into the shower whilst it's dry, leave for 5 mins, then jump into shower, rinse off, and apply again when the hair is wet before finally rinsing off again.

Keep up the good work!
