It’s looking very, very good, Nolan.
Have you decided which of the two you’re going to do?

As I do with many things I often flip/flop. Usually I'll begin to sweep for a little while, then get a bit tired of the eating and drinking concessions I have to make - trim to either the bottom lip, or where the lips meet, and repeat the process.

A perfect balance of longer and enough to be manageable in daily life. You seem to do it so naturally, awesome stuff! I guess you'll keep us guessing with your next style, I admire the freedom and your boldness to try different things. I guess that's what makes facial hair so enjoyable, the freedom to do anything. You certainly seem to love it, so good on you it's fun isn't it?!

Best

You're certainly the King of the moustachioed around these parts, no offence to other guy's whose threads I've yet to visit, but they don't come much better than yours.

I like it when you take your impeccable Stache out for a walk with your wonderful family. Great pics. NYC is great during the holidays, isn't it.

I wish for you a season filled with blessings reflective of all the good you put out in this world, this board and to we gents. You are an inspiration, Nolan. We are better for you in it. Thanks, Coach. Scott

Rumen - thank-you sir!Yes it was at that balancing point of long enough and manageable in daily life. Given the upcoming season and impending travels, I opted for the most minimal of trims right at the ceter - nobody but me would notice the difference 👍

Stevie t - thanks for the visit and the wonderful compliments sir! There are plenty of awesome mustaches residing on this board, and I'm merely an also-ran, but I certainly appreciate the awesome and flattering kudos sir 😀!

thatguy21 - thanks for the visit and the wonderful compliments sir! I'm three decades older than you, and my mustache has certainly evolved greatly since then, so there's no doubt that yours will also undergo similar development in the decades to come 👍

pandarocks - Scott, it's always such a pleasure when you visit with your heartfelt thoughts and eloquent words. I'm truly moved by what you have written, and struggle to adequately express my sincere gratitude, and appreciation for you gracious acknowledgement. Cheers!

So to move forward is bittersweet? I’ll shut up.

Perfection is possible for a mustache, which is evident in this photo.

I’ve been absent from the board since the beginning of the year due to a serious medical issue in our household. I’m happy to report that the situation has improved significantly at this time. I want to express my thanks and gratitude to all the staff here for their caring show of support over the past weeks. It’s rather amazing to me that people I’ve never met, can forge such a strong bond, and friendship over the internet. It speaks volumes to the high caliber of participants we are blessed with, here at the beard board.

Going with the flow relates to both life and the mustache. We can’t predict what life will throw at us, but we just have to accept and adapt. Same goes for the mustache – it’s sometimes difficult to go with the flow, and let it just grow out, but accepting and adapting is the biggest component to conquering that challenge. I’ve neglected to do any trimming since late December, so the flow is returning to the mustache:

20180213_145825resize500.jpg I hope to get back to visiting the board gradually in the coming weeks, and catch up with everyone's threads.

Cheers!

Hey there!  It's SO good to see you again and, especially, to hear that things are improving at home.  We've missed you around here.

Glad to see the stache is going with the flow, too.

All the best,
Tom

It's GREAT to see an update on your thread - and to hear that your household medical issue is greatly improved!

Going with the flow is a very good skill to have.  It's transferring very nicely to the stache, sir!

So very great to see you Nolan. More importantly it is better to read that you may be 'eating the bread of anxious toil' less and less as every day brings healing and better health.

To judge solely from your pic, I'd say you're relieved to be on this side of this journey; the smile and grown stache look happy to be upon your face. You look great. Peace, bro.

Wonderful to see an update from you on the board! I am glad to hear that things are improving!!

The flow looks good... I tend to follow a pattern of grow and trim, mostly based on a combination of laziness and practicality. My moustache was quite long until last week when I chopped it down for ease of living while my wife and I were in Rome for 4 days... I figured that the no-nonsense approach was best when travelling ;)

Anyway, I look forward to seeing you back in action on the board when you have more time to devote to the hirsute pursuits!
Stop trimming your moustache; greater glory awaits...
but if you are going to trim, do it right, go pencil...
then, of course, a nice copstache can be cool too...

Hey Nolan, you've been missed, one of the true Gentlemen of the board.
You've come back with a bang, showing the moustachioed folk how it's done, perfect!

Tom E - Tom, it's great to be back, even if it's in small doses for now. I've missed everyone here, and thank-you for your great support and help!

gato - Geoff, thanks so much for all of your kind thoughts and support over the past weeks - it's been a great help to me!

Sybeard - Sly - thanks for your kind thoughts and prayers - they are greatly appreciated!

Bray - thank-you sir! Keep that awesome stache of yours going 👍

Pandarocks - Scott, thanks so much - as always your words hit the nail right on the head - Cheers!

smedstad - Thanks John! I too oscillate between practicality and greater length in the stache. Maybe I'll push a bit further for now - 2 more months seems like it would be a good target 😜

Stevie t - Thanks very much Stevie! I hope to get around to visiting all of the great members and fine beards such as yours in the near future. Best 👍
