Hey!
I’m 17 and usually shave every 3-5 days, but being No Shave November, I’m giving my beard a chance. It’s been about a week and a half since I’ve last shaved and I’m noticing stuff I’ve never seen before. I’m just looking for some tips and thoughts of what potential I have. If anything, I’m worried about my cheek area and the left side of my lip (my moustache seems to connect on the right but not the left? Uh oh) thanks guys!

Hey! You have a nice young man's full beard in development! You have good terminal coverage/density in your stache, soulpatch, sideburns and neck area, especially for a 17 year old with just 1.5 weeks of growth. I wouldn't worry about the cheeks and the connectors area for now, they're the last area to develop, in nearly all teens. Mine have only just started to take off in the past week, and I've been growing for 45 days. Keep growing and beard on, dude! :)

Welcome to the board... you have a good looking young beard coming your way and you should plan to grow it for 3 months to see what you have to work with.  It looks like your chinstrap will come in pretty good but your front look is absolutely great.  Try not to shave or trim anything above the neck until you see what you have.

I do suggest you carve a neckline... follow that obvious crease between undercarriage and neck.  Then post updates about every 2 weeks so we can follow your progress and give you advice and encouragement.

Hey guys! Thanks for your responses. Unfortunately, I had to shave due to a school performance, but I’m about a week in from when I had to shave and shouldn’t have to shave again anytime soon. I will post updates in a week or two!

Ugh, why do guys have to shave for these, especially when they have good development?! There should be a change to the rules, IMO. If I I was told to shave for a performance, I just simply wouldn't go. Why would I put all this time and patience into something, to then shave it all off just for a performance? I understand that if the performance is important to you, then you must attend it, but the organiser(s) should give a bit of leeway. Oh well, I look forward to your return.

What performance if I might ask?
During concert year I perform every week or two so...
I rarely get such comments. Oh and concerto year begins on Thursday :X

Sorry, were you replying to me, Tal? Or, were you aiming that reply at the OP? I can't remember the last time I did a performance. LOL.

Tal is asking about the type of performance the OP had to shave for... Tal is an accomplished brass concert performer himself.

LOL, no, I'm not any of those, I think the last time I did a performance was for a school play, when I was 10. LOL.

I had to shave for a Musical. The director is really picky about facial hair and unless you have a full grown out beard (which like no one in high school does) you have to shave before opening night. It is annoying, but it’s already basically the same as it was in the original pictures.

LOL, what? That seems crazy, to me? What if you kept the strongest parts of your beard, would they accept that?

That is insane. Your director wouldn't had survived me.

This is now 2 weeks since I have last shaven... any comments? I’m starting to feel really self conscious and discouraged, so let me know what potential you think I have!

Nice update, dude! You have very similar coverage to what I had at 18, now look what I have! The weaker areas will fill in over time, so please don't feel discouraged! Your young's man full beard is developing nicely! However, I would advise carving a neckline. To do this, find the centre point (1 - 2 finger widths above the Adam's apple), and then follow the natural crease on your neck, to the end points just below your ears. Have you received any comments from friends/family? I hope this helps! Keep growing and beard on!

It’s looking good! Two weeks is definitely not enough to judge what you can grow but is a good insight into your potential. I definitely agree with Grimers in that you shouldn’t feel discouraged in this journey. Keep growin strong!

So I cut a neckline. Any thing else you could recommend? I really want to grow a beard but just feel awkward right now if you know what I mean? Thank you for the support though!

Your neckline is a little bit too high. Drop it by about 2 finger widths, as the growth appears.
