I have heard many older guys on this forum talk about how their beards have developed to be fuller over the years. As someone who is longing for a better beard myself, my favorite posts are those actually showing that improvement with photos.

I couldn’t find a similar post, so I figured I would open up the conversation with some of my own development. I am fairly young (25) and I know that my beard will improve at least a little bit in the future. To what extent? I have no idea. The oldest photo I have of my facial hair is when I was 18. I was growing it out for a play I was in. The connectors definitely came in with age (for all you teenagers worried about that gap) and I now have some hair on my sides. I wish I had more right now, but I had virtually none back then.

It's true,at 18-22 I didn't really have any beard development...or at least to the point I do now.here's me at 22 from when I posted here 5 years ago.

Screenshot_2018-01-02-23-52-45.png

And here's me now at 9 weeks of growth at 27.My beard has filled in and grows way faster in just 5 years time....don't get me started on how much it's improved from when I was 17-18 lol.

@Davis1214

Your beard has developed amazingly in only 5 years... I think some people really do continue to develop coverage for many years... @slybeard has often said his beard really didn't come into its own until his 40s ..!

Gives hope to alot of people to see these sort of posts i'm sure

Thanks dannyray1, appreciate the compliment bud!And I firmly believe a lot of people will continue to see beard development with age.The only problem from 22 till now?My beard is a lot better yes,but now my hair is receding and I'm growing hair in places I used to have none,as a couple of examples I now grow hair on my back and I have to keep my nose hairs trimmed lol.Oh the joys of ageing 😱

I remember being in my early 20’s thinking it was just in my genes to have a thin mustache, with a gap in the middle and no “connectors”. It was surprising to have it develop into what it is now today. Hopefully it continues the fill in over the next decade.

My beard was patchy and uneven until I hit my 30's.  Got even better through my 40's and 50's.  Now in my mid-60's, although now grey, it is denser than ever.  The beard I'm growing now came in faster and thicker than anything I've grown previously.

@MusicPerson on the first post in my journey thread linked below, I have a few older photos of myself and a description of how my facial hair developed.  Basically I was only capable of a mustache at 25.

I’ve seen your thread, Slybeard! I can only hope that my beard develops as well as yours has. Mustache came in thick for me at 18, goatee became strong at 20, and sides have been slow to fill in, but I think they are. I just wish I was paying better attention to what was going on with my sides rather than just shaving it anytime it tried to sprout up. I would have a better idea of how my development is going!

Sorry I do not have any photos of the many times I tried to grow through the years.  It was in the pre-digital years, but I would not have taken a photo of it anyway.  Believe me, it was bad back then.  It is far from perfect now, but much better.  I could be the poster boy for a late-bloomer.

I think all the years I spent wanting to grow a full beard is why I have a big beard now, and I want to offer advice to others also wanting to grow a full beard or any other facial hair style.

You would be a great poster boy for that, indeed!

Just hearing from reliable people that 25 isn’t too late for growing a thicker beard in the future is reassuring enough for me!

It is absolutely true, in many cases beards develop in the 30s and 40s and I had the same experience.

I posted a few pictures in an old Beard Theme called late Bloomers
late-bloomers-before-and-after-t51400.html#p51053

It happens frequently that young people in their 20s stop me in the street and ask me how long it will take to grow a long beard, as they think they’ll never succeed. I am always happy to reply with the truth: never say you’ll never succeed –time and patience are the best allies.

Ciao, Stefano

I found this pic from about 12 years ago, so at the time I was probably 51. I kept the facial hair to this small goat and stash because my chin area was pretty bare. Now at 63 it's a bit different. Dont know why, but I'm not complaining! Except looking at the comparison I certainly have aged in the last decade.
