In my eleventh week. This is where I failed in the past. More educated this time and determined. Have some patchiness in the cheek line. Also front is much more dense than around the neck. I have stopped shaving the neck line and stopped trimming the mustache about 6 weeks ago. Started using wax to week it away from the mouth. Feel like most are ahead of me at this stage but determined to hang in there.

You do have a good looking beard, what caused you to shave the first two?

BTW - nice haircut.

In the past I would develop that wave under the chin by the jawline and have one of those "bad beard days", become discouraged and shave. I have delved more into educating myself this time and I am using proper products. I also understand that beards do have their awkward stage and that the key is pushing through them. That's where I am now...pushing through the awkward stage.

Yes, waves can cause some beard upset, but you must grow through them.

Welcome!

That's already an excellent beard you've grown, and very established at that. I think you'd be better served over in Short Beards. This forum is for first time growers that are unsure whether or not they can grow a beard, but you already have one.

Let me be the first to welcome you to Short Beards!

You have an excellent beard.  You have an immensely strong front, which may be why the sides stand out for you.  I think many guys would love to have your coverage and density.   That is an incredible beard!

Good Grow mate...what an excellent result. Contending with beards that appear to misbehave is a thing, isn't it. Like head hair, some require a rinse, brush and blow dry for encouragement...or further growth...or becoming more accepting of its 'features' over time. From the looks of your pics, it appears you've worked it out very well. Enjoy your time here. We will look forward to many updates and please mine and contribute to many of these fine stories found here. Best.

Btw.: Do you have any pictures of your beard in earlier stages? Would be really interesting to see how your cheeks developed cause there looking really nice and dense! If I can be anywhere near this at eleven weeks I would be very very happy!

Wow what an epic beard already. It has such potential to get even better if you let it grow out more length can be addicting!

I agree that beard growing is a process, we must not make rash decisions, too many times I've trimmed, when sticking it out would have been a better option. Stick with it and your patience will be rewarded. You've already got a fantastic beard, with great coloration. Keep it growing!

All the best
Rumen

Thank you! I think you're right. In the past my expectation was for the beard to grow at the same rate and density in all parts and I now realize how unrealistic that expectation is. I have noticed that the density in the front has started to "move back" towards the neck as shorter hairs are beginning to catch up and fill in. I have the same issue on each side of the soul patch and on each cheek line. Patience and support is key. Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you sir! Yes good products make a world of difference. I made all of the rookie mistakes in the past. Trimming off edges, using hair shampoo, washing every day, not using oil, balms or butters...not this time. Knowledge is power and it is making a huge difference in the overall experience.

This was at about 4 weeks of growth. Id does seem that the growth rate has increased over the last 4 weeks or so.

Great looking beard!  It is interesting to note how much more distinguished the grey in the front of your beard looks now versus the 4 week picture.  Gives me something to hope for as I have a similar pattern.

Thank you! The color does seem to keep evolving and I myself am curious about what its color will be once I reach big beard status.

Week 12 update. Photo shows 12 weeks on the left and 8 weeks on the right. Mustache has really taken off. Starting to train it now with wax. Not sure what my goal with the stache will ultimately be. Finding the awkward stage of the mustache far more challenging than the beard ever was. Beard has gained density and length and a few small patches have began to fill in. Under the chin my beard is far more dense than it is closer to the neck and that has me a bit concerned. I  hope to eventually have equal density front and back. Bear on brothers!
