Hello everyone,

I've been reading your inspirational posts for quite a while now and decided share my journey with you guys.

I am 25 years old and have always had a stubble beard for the past few years. This is the first time that I am letting my beard grow out completely.

Attached you will find some pictures of me clean shaven and how i look right now (Week 9). All that I have trimmed is the neckline + mustache and I just started using beard oil.

My concerns are mainly the lack of hair upwards of my chin - to the soul patch, because I think that a great full beard is mostly defined by the strong front look. What do you guys think?

Greetings from Germany - Fibonacci

Looks good, and will make a great looking big beard if you continue.

Beards come in lots of different patterns, and yours is quite a common one, especially at such a young age.  You can expect the soul patch area of your beard to continue to fill in over the coming decade or two.

For now, your beard already looks good and it will continue to improve over the coming weeks.

Welcome to the board.

Hey guys, wanted to give a quick 4 month update. I've been to the barber twice to shape the neckline and keep a tidy looking beard.

You are are making thw most of your natural shape at this length, just as good tree pruning follows the Fibonacci sequence proportions.

Even some medium-length beards do better with no neckline: most neck hairs grow forward and under the chin, as well as downward: see here and there. (thanks to nsr160 for permission!).

@Fibonacci105 I guess it is OK now to say I told you so.  You have really done well.

A wave has just barely begun to appear under the jawline. It is a very common shape of wave, similar to the one I get when I grow my beard long enough. If you let your beard grow any longer, the wave will manifest itself fully, and that won't be a bad thing. The way to control the wave in its early length, until the hairs get long enough for gravity to control it, is to brush upward and outward while applying a hair dryer mildly.
