I’m 22 years old (I’ll be 23 this year) and I can grow decent facial hair, however I work as a full time firefighter so I am not allowed to have any facial hair other than a mustache. I have grown it before but usually shave it after a week or two because of embarrassment. But, I want y’alls opinion on it. I’m right at about 1 week of growth.

Thank you.

(The rest of my face in these pictures is less than 20 hours.)

Hey firefighter.
Welcome to the Board.  It is the most stylish firefighter to have an epic mustache.. You can pull that off with no problem.  I hope to see you do something artistic, to live up to the firefighter mystique.

From what you have posted, I see you can do any kind of beard you want.  With only 20 hours, you have a very heavy beard.  Good posibilities.

So, can you focus on 13 weeks as a first goal for your mustache?  What style are you wanting??????
Can you do weekly updates, and we can follow your progress.  It is a great motivator for you to see the differences from week to week.

Nice to have you here.  Can you grow the whole thing??????
My name is Tom

Hi, thank you.

Our department policy says mustaches cannot go past the corner of the mouth, however no one really follows said rule. I would like to maybe try a handle bar and curl the ends if possible.

You can certainly do the handlebar and curl, because your respirator will still fit well around it.  You might smash it up a little, but it will only take a little fixing, and your stache will be good as before.  I hope you go for it.  It would look awesome on you, and very traditional.  I am anxious to see you grow, because you have super excellent promise. Your mustache is nice and filled in for such a short time.  It is normal to be a bit self conscious in the beginning.  You are doing something new.  Others will probably say something, because it is new to them also.  Just focus on growing for now, and tell anybody who mentions it that it is a journey you are doing for you.  Then have fun with it.  Notice how others view you.  Notice the tactile differences it makes.  It will be prickly before it feels smooth.  Notice how it gives confidence as you grow it.  Just have fun.

A great first investment could be a mustache comb.  Kent makes great ones.  And wax.  There is a company in Louisiana that makes Firehouse Wax.  I have used it a lot.  You can use either dark or light.  It doesn't matter.  I prefer the light, because the scent is better to me.  If you find you need something that holds more, you can use "Wacky Tacky" later on.  It is too strong for me.  Now is a great time to get it, as 1.  Preparing for the weeks ahead, and 2.  It is a great motivator.

I am looking forward to your next update, because I promise you that there will be progress.
Grow on.

Thankfully not TOO many people say things. A majority of the firemen I work with have mustaches, but when they do say something it’s usually just harmless fun. I will try to update every week or two. Thank you again.

Your mustache will look great.  You are very worthwhile to comment to.  You are welcome.

Okay it hasn’t been quite 2 weeks since my last pictures but I’ve noticed it has grown a little bit.

Do y’all still think there is some potential? Also, will the middle fill in? There’s a few dark hairs and lots of little light colored hairs.

Thanks again.

Your mustache will be freaking awesome.  It has grown quite a bit, and is looking really great.  You have filled in well, and are now getting length, and both the length and the density will look great.  Don't worry about the center.  Sometimes that part grows slower than the rest.  The great thing is you have mustache density in the middle.

Grow on, sir.  Enjoy it.  You will be a great looking, firefighter with your own really cool stache.
Thanks for the post, even early.  Post any time you wish, and it will let you see your progress, as we follow.

You are doing very well for only a few weeks! Don't worry at all about the center - it is a very common growth pattern, and will give you a natural part once you begin to train your mustache to the sides as it gains more length. Give your stache a full 3 months without any trimming at all, and if you can manage it with your job, 6 months would be even better to realize your full potential 👍

The center hairs grow slower.  You have hair there, it just needs time.

Beautiful!!!!  The middle will be there.  Don't worry, just enjoy the growth.  Now picture 11 more weeks for your first goal.  It will be poetry.
Thanks for the great update.  Keep them coming, and
Grow on.

Man, 2 weeks in and you are really motoring along. Just be patient, you will have a fantastic moustache!
Stop trimming your moustache; greater glory awaits...
but if you are going to trim, do it right, go pencil...
then, of course, a nice copstache can be cool too...

You have a very good mustache going on for two weeks sir. I am not sure if you have ever grown it past the two-week mark, but from what I see, by the next week or two, the length will increase and it will give you a better control. And you will be able to better shape and trim it once you get a decent length. The middle part, as everyone says will take time, but you already are off to a great start. Most people do not get hair there until they are 3-4 weeks or so in. And you have hair there from week 1.

You will have a very good mustache. Keep growing it and keep sharing with us.

Cheers.

That is borderline amazing growth in only 2 weeks and 22 years old.

This is a borderline great thread, except the owner hasn't posted his mustache since April.   Hope he shows up soon.
