Hi everyone so far it's been a little over 2 weeks and I would like to share my pictures with all of you and get some feedback. If all goes well I plan to grow the beard for 3 months and see what I can do with it.

Your growth is very good for your age. If you don't shave, a nice beard you shall have.

I agree. Will be an excellent and dense full beard in a few weeks' time.
Just let everything grow for 3 months and then see what you have and what to do.

Good luck.

Welcome to the board... you have exceptional coverage for 17 y/o only growing 2 weeks. Your beard is coming in quite strong and you will be quite bearded at 3 months.  Do you think you are ready for this?  Your few apprehensions noted are quite normal for a first time bearder, but don't let them deter you from letting everything grow for 3 months.  Soon you will realize that you have something pretty good on your face and your won't see these small imperfections as much or at all.

What should you do?  First, think about carving your neckline in the next week or two.  That will make your beard look more deliberate by putting the attention on your sides.  Check the Carving a Neckline thread in Beard Growing library.  Then, see if you can find some got2b spiking glue so you can start training your stache to lay horizontal as it lengthens.  Pushing those center hairs to the sides is going to fill in your stache nicely.  In a couple weeks you will also want to start a regimen of jojoba oil to give your beard body, shine and softness.

Then the biggest thing for you is to give us weekly updates, because your beard is growing very fast. On each update tell how you feel about your progress because we want you to get trained mentally to accept your beardedness and this will take some time.  Consider posting your pictures directly in your post so that your progress can be more easily noted.  Just get a direct link from imgur in the clipboard, then while editing your post here, choose Insert Image, then Add from URL, then paste the link.

Officially week 3.

so so far I feel that my mustache and goatee areas growing quickly but me cheeks(especially left one) are showing empty spots.

and for the sideburns, the reason why it's shaved at the top is because my barber squared it off although I told him not to.

Wow, what a powerful look you have already in the front... only 3 weeks @ 17 y/o... a feat not accomplished by many at that age.

Your sides have a good many terminal hairs and I'll bet you have transitionals and slower growers with them that are not showing up in these pictures. Keep is all growing and I'll bet you'll decide to keep the fullbeard when you reach 3-4 months growing.

Keep the updates coming weekly and try for some straight on shots of the sides in natural light.

Sling,

Your 3 week photos show lots of promise.  Jasjes is correct by saying your frontal look is already practically filled in.  As far as the other areas of your beard, filling in will take longer.  Patience is what is needed mostly at this point.  When the rest of your beard catches up with the front, your peers will be in envy of you.  Don't give up growing, you have a great beard growing, remember it is a process.

Later in your life you could have a full beard with everything growing uniformly in maybe about 4-6 weeks where you will look fully bearded with just maybe a tweeking to your liking.  For now, it will take time to get there because you are younger but the result will be the same.  Don't give up.  The final product will look good!

Patience, Sling. Enjoy the process, you have great coverage and growth. No need to be focused on the small details, most people won't see those. Let it grow bro, let it grow.

Your coverage is coming in very strong for 17 y/o and I don't recommend you ever trim down your stache again.

The truth is that you are becoming quite bearded for your age and I can understand your reluctance to show such a mature stache at your age, but it really is a signature look and you can wear it boldly and proudly when ready. If you are not ready for such a manly look, I can understand and I can accept keeping your whiskers tamed for now... but as soon as you are ready for this manly and very mature look, let everything grow

Also, do not consider your beard patchy.  You have a strong and well defined cheek line and most of your sides are showing very strong and should cover skin at 3 months.  Some areas in the center of the sides are still developing but will show much better at 3 months.  For this reason, you are ready for the full beard and because of your very strong front, it will probably be an adult looking beard, rather than a young man's fullbeard.

Then, I'd like you to reconsider your neckline.  Your center point is about 2 finger widths too high but your end points are perfect.  You have very heavy neck coverage and just shaving the neckline differently starting next week will allow it to fill in nicely in a couple more weeks. Ideally, the hair off your jawline could be styled to show parallel to your cheek line and that will be a Spade style.  Start with the new neckline and let the goatee grow natural and in about 3-4 months, you will have a perfectly framed fullbeard, moving nicely toward the Spade style.

You may not be ready for this intense fullbeard look just yet... it takes time for some guys to reprogram their brain for this new look.  You will be questioned by others initially and perhaps some gals will stand off for now, but after they and you get used to the hair on your face, you will get a lot of support.

Now is the time for you to do some soul searching to see if you're ready for this transition... I hope you choose to let your beard all grow now... tell us and those around you of this decision.  Be bold in your decisions and you will start to develop courage to step out from the masses around you and make a statement about the man you are becoming.

Edit: Forgot to mention... beard oil [jojoba is fine] can be started next month and while you're buying, get some got2b spiking glue because I just might recommend some stache treatments IF you let that monster grow.

First, just 5 days more growing since your last post is showing improvement... that's just amazing. You are getting a very heavy fullbeard that will show very mature at 3 months. On the neckline... your last picture shows a really nice neckline, starting at the goatee and proceeding back toward the ear just under the jawline. Let everything along that jawline get heavy.  Then, for now, shave the hair on the neck below the jawline.  As your sides get heavier in another month or so, then consider lowering the entire neckline. This will give you a very intentional and deliberate look as you grow toward 3 months.  At that time, you decide whether to keep a relatively short fullbeard or go for a bigger beard.  The bigger beard can stand some neck hair... the shorter beard should not have much or any neck hair.

Also, note in your second picture that the neckline comes right up into the jaw.  Try to carve that under the jawline and let the hairs on the jawline get heavy.  PM me if you still don't understand any of this.
