Im 17. And i havent shaves for about 1 month and 3 weeks. I know its pretty bad lol. Im not sure what to do. Its patchy from where my chin beard connects to the side burns. It has hairs but a bit. One side grows better than the other. I get no hair below the chin neck. I have trimmed a bit my neck hairs and i shave my cheek hairs because they are really weak. I wanna trim it all together because i feel its getting long and looks messy. Trim it all the same size shorter so they can grow better? Or should i let it grow like that? I feel people dont even see it as a beard. Tips for the patches?

UPDATE 1 month (4 weeks)

17 y/o guys can grow beards but you need to commit to it and put in the time.  Put in 12 - 13 weeks growing and during that time resist the urge to trim it up.  Yeah, it may look a bit messy and look kinda crappy and patchy but you need to power through that and go the time of 12 - 13 weeks.  !2 - 13 weeks is not "magic" but it's what guys on the board think is a good time to see what you can do.  You may strike out or you may have a good result. When you get to the end you can then 'clean it up' and make it more presentable.  I know it will be hard to see it developing and looking all crappy but you just need to work through that as the end result should be worth your trouble.

I say you have pretty decent growth, don't trim at all until you reach the 13 week mark and you might be surprised by what you can grow.

Welcome to the board... you have the start of a pretty nice beard but it's hard to see with these small pictures. With the coverage you have along the jawline and the stache, I suspect the sides are better than you think and if you grow everything for 3 months, you could find out your true coverage and choose a style to fit that.

Let it all grow and post updates every couple weeks. Bring the size of your pictures up to 640 pixels so we can see some detail. It also helps to post your pictures in your thread as it makes it easier to see various angles at the same time and to compare to previous progress.

Hey man you just gotta grow it. Post here weekly it helps. The only trimming that you should do it your neckline a fingers width above your adams apple

From one newcomer to another you're not alone and you just need to stick at it! Don't take any crap, in all honesty they are probably just jealous you can grow and they cannot. To have what you have already at 17 is great and I think with time it will only get better and better! After seeing my own friends going through similar phases, it's given me (and it should help to give you) the confidence to stick at it!

Good luck!

It looks like you uploaded some pictures into an album on 9/15... so perhaps your problem is inserting them into your post from the album.  Follow this step-by-step to get pictures into your post from your album.  If you are not seeing some button or if a dialog is not coming up, it is most likely your browser.  Some beardboard functions don't work well with certain browser versions.  If you still have problems, PM me the steps you took and what you saw or didn't see.

Welcome. Looking forward to watching your progress. Post weekly updates and reach out with any questions/concerns. I would also set some sort of initial goal for yourself. Most guys grow for 13 weeks to see what they have.

Cheers- Kevin

So i had 54 days without shaving but then i postsed online on no shave nation on FB my progress and they all decided i should keep on shaving so it can fill in more and get thicker. So i took their advice and i started again. I wont shave again till january after today. Also for the first 40 days i wasnt shaving i would shave my cheek hairs off and trim my sides a bit. Now im not gonna touch anything. This also helped that i grew my beard a bit because more hair grew in and i can see the hairs that are coming back fill my face more. Im 17 btw. I posted this in accident before in the 20-25.

welcome to the board... shaving does NOT make your beard grow in faster and thicker, it only TEMPORARILY removes the hair. you are clean shaven in the pics. i advise to grow for 2-3 months. check out the Beard Growing library for info on starting and accepting your beard. drop by the IRC chat for super-quick answers to your questions, support, tips and tricks. keep growing and showing weekly. what is your beard goal?

+1

Welcome to Teens forum... as beardacus said, shaving has no effect on beard development. When you see new coverage after a shave, it means you got normal development during that time... and nothing to do with the fact that you shaved.  Grow for a week or two and post pictures.  Remember, you need bigger pictures so we can see your beard detail.

Your pictures cannot be seen with this link but can be seen by looking at your albums. Your prior journey showed a good chinstrap and stache... I'm sure this will show the same in a few more weeks.  Keep growing and showing.
