I thought if a vehicle was not fitted with a TGX machine then they had to let you on for free, because you had a method of payment but the bus did not?

I'd say it's only Limerick and Tralee depots (and possibly Athlone) where all the coaches are still using the old ticket machines at this stage, but still, it's crazy that some buses are still on the old system over nine years later - and as has been pointed out, the TGX150 machine is from the dark ages (maybe the NTA will change this over time and use more up-to-date ticket machines).

It's also about time we started to allow contactless debit and credit cards be accepted as a means of payment on buses and coaches, not everyone wants (or needs) a Leap Card.

The 343 would be a good option for me as I live between the 343 and 302 route paths. However the new tax saver that came in last year is in leap card format and the drivers have told us that a leap card must be scanned so I rarely use the 343 because 90% of the time I am asked to cough up. My friend emailed BÉ a few months ago possibly around Christmas time but never received a response.

I see SP17 now has a TGX machine so maybe your wishes will finally be answered Paul! I note that LC14 and SC247 have it as well.

No Leap Card Facility = No Payment for Leap users but there may be some local exceptions.

The entire fleet will finally have the TGX150 by year end. In Cork aswell the West Cork routes will be taking Leap during the year.

I'd say a lot of depots are converted now, the Sligo city service buses have it now so that means all city buses are converted at last. There's just a few coaches in Cork, Broadstone and Wexford/Rosslare, plus most of the coach fleet in Limerick and Waterford to be done. Tralee is the only depot not using them at all (as far as I know).

All Donegal based buses have the TGX machine bar the old VC's and MH32.

However MH33 is the only MH in the whole fleet to have the TGX machine fitted.

LC14, LC20, LC335, SE11, SE40, SP34, SP40 and SP83 also fitted with TGX machines. SP30 still not fitted with one even though it's a Cork bus.
