There must be a fairly large expansion of services coming if they're ordering that many buses (on top of the StreetLites let's not forget). Either way, it's very good news. Interesting that they will come in BÉ livery given that the StreetLites should be in TFI livery.

Will these B5TLs be the same spec as the existing VWDs (presumably they will if they're going to the trouble of keeping the BÉ livery)?

Also some good news, the 25 Gemini/B5TL's ordered have gone into production in Wrights and should go into service later in the Summer. They will be in full Bus Eireann livery so should be easily spotted around Ballymena!
The (vast) majority for Cork and Broadstone I presume?

Has Sp87 transferred to limerick. Saw it last week and also this morning. Parked up outside Arthur's Quay probably doing the ardnacrusha route. Still with eurolines livery

I would have thought Cork was in line for most of them; there's all those DDs to replace and the 220 improvements will require at least six buses. There's also improvements for the 223 so that again will require extra buses.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens with the VWLs that will be leaving Waterford soon, hopefully Cork will get most of them - although I suppose they could go to places like Sligo and Dundalk to replace AMs as well.

The BE livery that the new VWD's will be in is it the livery that's applied to the 151 VWD's or will it be the livery that the 08 and 12 VWD's are in

No they will be in the 151 VWD livery, which isn’t great but at least it’s not that Transport for Ireland nonsense being discussed elsewhere.

As for the buses themselves the news may be not so good as they may be the Dublin Bus/NTA spec but there will be some changes for BE apparently. Will give them the benefit of the doubt for now but I would say anything other then the existing VWD spec would be a backwards step.

This is great news that more new VWDs are on the way.  One has already been built and is on Donrobni Flickr page.  They no longer have the leather headrests:

Considering one is already complete, that announcement was certainly kept under tabs.
Now with extra buses being allocated to Cork, I am going to bring back an old subject, can Capwell facilitate that many buses?

Seats are quite a step backwards, looks to be the Esteban Civic V2 rather than the V3 seat that was fitted to all the other VWDs. It's disappointing that we now have a somewhat farcical situation where newer buses actually have worse seats than the buses they are replacing.

Also disappointing is the fact that these are the short wheel base version rather than the long wheel base version the last two batches of VWDs have been, the longer wheel base allows an additional row of seats in both saloons (eight extra in total).

At least the rest of the spec is the same as the existing VWDs (and it is also good that they are keeping the new design), although I note that they have the same rear bumper design as is being retrofitted to the SGs in Dublin.
