Been pulled up by the RSA again:
https://www.kildarenow.com/news/dublin- ... ods/214763
Last Bus Limited, on 5 March, 2018, pleaded guilty to six charges of cause and purport to authorise the driver to fail to take a daily rest period and to exceed daily driving as well as charges for failing to make regular checks.

The Court convicted on the six charges and fined Last Bus Limited a total of €5,000 an award of costs was also made against the company bringing the total sanction imposed in excess of €5,500.
Key paragraph which I agree with 100%
Operators in breach of drivers’ hours requirements are also profiting from undercutting compliant operators and contributing to unfair competition in the road haulage industry.
The way they are undercutting their competitors on routes by these practices is a complete disgrace and the paltry fines they are getting for this probably makes sweet FA effect.

''serious and systematic non-compliance ''
Read the above words carefully - this is not just laziness or just a one off problem. This should result in licences being revoked and this shambles closed down, not a €5,500 fine, which they probably bring in in revenue in 1 day.

Like many other Irish problems down through the years, a major incident is going to occur here and then the RSA and NTA will wake up.

Also, did a 181 Tourismo go on fire or am I mistaken? Think there was a fire in the depot in Ennis....

Merc coaches have a history of fires.

Roll on Go-Ahead taking over services in the Kildare area, the current operators are dubious at best.

Not sure what you mean about Go-Ahead Redstar? They are only taking over some services operated by BE, don’t see what the impact is on Dublin Coach.

Go-Ahead will be required to run reliable services.  Dublin Coach and Bus Éireann have been unable to do that in recent times.

Redstar I was a bit taken aback when you seemingly dismissed the coach fires as being a normal occurrence but this ‘dubious operators’ comparison lacks all credibility.

Firstly nobody was discussing Bus Eireann, good or bad. Yes Bus Eireann BST has had difficulties operating services in recent months and had to cancel some services, which of course is not good enough.

However this is a thread about Dublin Coach and it’s flouting of legal regulations, fines, fires, breakdowns, poor working conditions etc.

I think it is very clear which is the dubious operator here.

Also, nobody knows how well the Go-Ahead operation will work out. They certainly will be reputable and well run but they will face a challenge in recruiting drivers and being able to operate full schedules initially at least. BE and Dublin Bus have been recruiting smaller numbers in phases with better pay and have struggled. Part of the reason for the BE cancellations you noted above. Therefore let’s wait and see how it works out.

As you mention Kildare routes, The NTA’s recently launched Route 139 is struggling with various problems and it has nothing to do with Bus Eireann so let’s keep an open mind.

I didn't mean that coach fires were a normal occurrence, but Mercs are prone to overheating and fires.  I think the MHs suffered similar issues.  I agree that JJK is having issues with the 139, it must be hard in Co Kildare using the bus service no matter what colour the bus is.

I suppose this counts as a Dublin Coach addition :)  It appears that Glen Whelan sold the K-Coach operation about a year ago, and it was moved to a comapny called Kyanitedale Ltd.  Have a gander at who the director is.... ;)  https://www.solocheck.ie/Irish-Company/ ... ted-602792
