Two really really obvious ones that we might have missed.

April the first was the centenary of the formation of the RAF and November 11 will be the centenary of the end of WWI.

Looking at the previous group builds neither have been done in a while. Granted I'm going to find it easy to do both with my current lineup of builds, but both would afford a very diverse range of builds.

I would be happy to assent to an RAF Centenary Group Build.

Having recently acquired this (€3 off ebay), this would be my primary inspiration, plenty of very quirky interwar types (I'm veering towards a Gloster Gamecock)

Hi, do you want to give everyone some more details on what you thinking that can be included or excluded, potential start and finish dates (within the new guidelines).

The more information we have the easier the decision will be for people to second the proposal or not. Under the new guidelines there is no quarterly voting any more, if you get enough seconds the GB goes ahead.

I suppose the RAF one would be the easier one to define. Any aircraft type in service with the RAF between 1st April 1918 and the 1st April 2018. So for example RFC and RNAS schemes would be out but foreign machines (like the Chinook, the mustang or the B17) would be in provided they were in RAF colours.

So for example my pup is out if I complete it in the RNAS scheme I'm planning as it would need to be in a post april 1918 scheme to qualify.

Ideally we'd have a good spread of types from each decade of the period. Eg 1920s Sopwith Snipe, 1930's Wellesley, 1940's Spitfires etc 1950's Vampires 1960's V bombers Lightnings etc, 1970's Tornado, 1980's ? 200's the Eurofighter etc etc. There are literally hundreds of types.

The WWI one has the potential to be much more diverse, so might not be that good. I was thinking of the many late war types that either barely saw service or were a little too late. e.g. The Mk IX tank, the Sopwith Snipe, the Martinsyde Buzzard, the Siemens Shuckert DII/IV the K-Wagen etc Otherwise I'd suggest any late war type e.g. the Fokker DVII or the DH4 etc.

Again a vast range of types to choose from.

I am still happy with that RAF proposal. Count me in as an assenter. (I have lots of RAF kits on hand, all WW2 in era, though)

I'm in as the stash mainly covers 1918 up to about 1939.

Mark if you wanted to include them in your GB proposal, there's also these two branches of the RAF that offer model builds for those who like ships and armour respectively

RAF Marine Branch

RAF Regiment

Just a thought....

Hahahahaha! I was just going to mention the RAF Regiment, although I have a nice jet that I build for this.
