Some PAL stuff

The Killing Season 1 - the original Danish series from which the AMC American version was derived. Much, much better than the American (20 hours)
The Killing Season 2 - more Danish police procedural (10 hours)
Braquo - a French police drama series where both the cops and the criminals are corrupt
The Girl Can't Help It - you all know this one

One would hope so. Catwoman said the U.S. version was dreadful, and she loves that kind of stuff.

I thought the American one was pretty good, with great acting, but the Danish one is in a league of its own. The only other TV police procedural miniseries that match it are Prime Suspect and The Bridge (the Danish-Swedish one, not the American).

From what I've read, you're in a minority. I believe people were especially ticked when the American producer tried to stretch a one-year story into two years.

Actually, the American version of the first series is about the same length as the Danish one (around 20 hours) except was spread over two seasons. The idea in the original series was that each episode represented a day in the murder investigation. Where the American version differed was that it veered significantly from the original series plot about halfway through and the plot differences were to its detriment IMO.

That's what I've read, and the wife said it went downhill fast, during the second half of the first season. I'm not even sure she got through the entire second season.

My wife loved the first season. Didn't like the second season at all. Netflix has picked it up for a third.

If you or your wife have never seen the original, you should.
