I want to hike up the Lost River Peak this weekend. Does anyone know the current conditions of the super gully?

Climbed it with some friends Sunday. As the picture shows, there isn't much snow, but what there was was perfect for crampons. Once you reach snow line, only a few short sections of scree lay between snow fields. It's in nearly perfect shape for a great snow climb. But it's going to go fast with this weather. I'll post a few more pictures later.

...surely you have climbed this one before, or did you bring your skis?

Here's what it looked like when I climbed it with Eric on Sunday:

Thanks for the posts. I know what I'm doing this weekend! Just wanted to see if crampons were still worthwhile, it looks like they are.

Beautiful pics, btw.

Yep, done this route many a time. Glutton? Oh yeah! Not really enough snow to ski this time around, but it's a great route to climb when the snow is firm. It's one of my favorite snow climbs and I really look forward to doing it every spring.

Thanks for sharing your pictures. Four of us made the summit attempt this past weekend
three of us made it before nasty weather caused a hasty retreat.

Snow was great for crampons beginning lower section of SG.

Here are our groups pics. Enjoy.

Crampons will be necessary in the Lost Rivers this week and weekend. And who knows what trouble that new snow is going to cause.
