On 8/24/17, John & I drove up to Gilmore Peak's headwall and set up camp at Meadow Lake CG site #3. We couldn't think of another trailhead that started at almost 9200' that we had been to, and certainly not an official campground.
The following morning we headed up the Lemhi Divide trail from the CG to the ridge at 10200' and hung a left for Gilmore Peak. As we were nearing the SW summit (right), I recalled someone saying something about the NE summit (left) being taller.
We couldn't decide which was taller, so we left our packs and scrambled over to take a look at the lake from the other summit:
Then we backtracked to continue on the ridge to Peak 10723, Point "Diablo" (10666') and Portland Mtn:
On 8/26, we climbed Sheep Mtn from its East ridge on very sore legs:
Looks like it wasn't too smoky.
Glad to see a report from you, Geo.
