Beaverheads

John R & I have had trips planned for a couple of the last weekends, but his work just kept getting in his way. I've been out the last 3 weekends getting some alpine exercise, so I guilted John into taking an extra day off so we could climb more Beaverheads than we had originally planned.

There are several people I enjoy climbing with, but John & I think almost exactly alike when it comes to planning and executing a common goal ...while taking time to savor the journey. Sometimes, we bring along a few extras:

(Huh's Horn over the gazebo)

Saturday we climbed Scott Peak via the 10249T ridge (bear left, class 2, solid footing)

then followed the summit ridge over to Huh's Horn.

Sunday we debated as we hiked and eventually decided to try Eighteenmile peak first from the Eighteenmile - Jump Pk saddle

before following the ridge to Cottonwood:

Then we headed down for a few victory beers before calling it a night:

This morning we packed up camp while sipping our coffee, stopped off at Pickles for delicious breakfast, and then soaked at the Carey-Craters hot springs to scrub up a bit before heading home:

I just love Idaho.

Thanks for the awesome TR, Geo.
Great photos, too.
Looks like your timing was perfect... you might have had the last weekend with slidable snow?

Thanks, John. You are correct about your comment on the timing. We got lucky there. Any sooner and we would have been slopping it down below, any later and we would have been walking downhill.

I was looking forward to your TR on Corruption for beta purposes, but "wandering uphill in the fog until you couldn't go any higher" doesn't help me much. Congrats!

Geo,
I'd instead recommend "wander uphill under a clear sky until you can't go higher".
Hope THAT helps
