Hi folks

Further to the earlier post by iaws2, I can confirm that I am in possession of the demo of “Mantis” on which I played piano for the Roses. It’s an eight minute Giorgio Moroder disco type track with a great krautrock bassline which breaks down 5 minutes or so in, where the band let me cut loose to do my thang. After that Squire goes absolutely ballistic with a searing solo. It has a great refrain from Ian throughout, “I wish I’d never planned this/ Said you’d take me to Atlantis/ You’re nothing but a preying mantis/ An insect cannibal, and a fantasist”

It’s disappointing that Ian isn’t using it for his solo record which is out soon so I plan to post it on you tube.

Nigel.

"Oh Mantis,
It sounds the same if you sing it in Spanish
I eat baloney and I walk around pantless
Oh Mantis,
Like a supergroup that suddenly disbanded
I have no drummer and sing worse than that guy from Rancid"

this sounds epic Nigel, cant wait for the tube video. Did you ask if they will maybe still release it one day!?! They said it was over but could have meant live touring. Ians trip album does/should not mean the roses has to finish.
