Our performer is magic, as he follows his dream,
The light of his mission of love on each of us does beam
Sometimes in the loneliness of our indifferent cold bed,
We know those dawns, when awakening we dread.
Life seems to much, it carries too much weight,
But in all such moments, Neil's artistry can relate.

His music becomes literally, our light in the storm,
His presence, his talent, making each of us warm
His impulse that connects with us, straight from his heart,
We remember in gratitude, a thankfulness never to depart.

He's more than an artist, who a venue or arena can fill,
He comes beckoning the best of us, within us hope can drill
Helping our tormented hearts to be quiet and still.
The effect on us all is lasting and permanent, never to fall
And each of us, everyone of us, can stand straight and tall.....

In his confessions, we see our shortcomings reflected,
And through his awesome, much of the bad is deflected....
A magic, a beauty, a confessional artist so profound,
We're open to his performance, his music each surrounds.
"Don't look down," He sings in his special way,
And suddenly "down here," we don't have to stay!!

Around us, beneath us, his music is heard by all,
Rich and poor, black and white, all together stand tall,
The bigoted terrible wall that separates us does fall.
Wave after wave, of pure shining delight,
Points to the wonderful fact that others we don't need to fight
In spite of whatever happens, the things that leave a scar,
We'll still dance to his tunes, that'll carry us far.
Hope springs eternal, in every longing hurtful breast;
With his melodies and lyrics, we'll aim for the best

The people who post here, day after day after day,
Realize, in our living, there is a better way,
And justice, mercy and love, will eventually carry the day
"I believe in happy endings," is not merely a nice song,
We realize at our best, to each other we belong..........

...you are more than kind and gracious; I don't deserve such overwhelming praise. I'm still struggling here, and I'm deeply grateful for everyone's patience and understanding! And believe me, I don't ever want to "saturate" the board with my struggles, inner and emotional. It's just that, since I've relatively retired, inspiration comes at the oddest times and places. Thank you - you are wonderful!!

I just don't have the wonderful words to express how great your poetry is! It's so heartfelt and reflective. When I read your poems about concert excitement and anticipation, I find myself sitting on the edge of my seat, even (well, my leather chair actually, lol). And the verses about how Neil draws everyone together...so true...and always a sparkle about humanity and love. You are such a wise and gifted man. I would love for Neil to put music to your poems! It could be an anthology of tribute to fans. Once again, I am truly humbled by your words.

your feelings and your ability to pull it all together so splendidly in poetic form. You speak the truth of your heart and soul and you are able to captivate the essence of Neil's lyrics perfectly.

I know that we are all very proud of you and your wonderful and varied contributions to our IAIS Community.

...don't make too much of my "wisdom" one of the unfortunate things that happens to us as we grow older is that we are humbly aware of how much we don't know! I remember as if it was yesterday: when I graduated from high school, I felt fairly bright; when I graduated from college, the brightness dimmed; when I graduated from graduate school and attended a lot of other places - well, the "bulb burnt out."LOL!!
Some of the wisest and most wonderful people I've ever known saw the inside of very few classrooms - but they taught me much. And they still do.

I didn't realise you had such poetic tendancies. Nice work young man. And don't be put off by peoples praise. When it's due, it's due and it's due now
