Blurred Thoughts on a Hot August Afternoon.......

We come to the board, with the good and the bad;
Overwhelmed with joy, yet shattered by the sad.
We seek out a presence, regardless of feeling,
That celebrates our smiles, yet offers us healing;
The only true artist who knows how we feel,
The confessional craftsman known to all of us as Neil.

The critics have spoken, profoundly and clear,
But still for us all there is nothing to fear:
The music and lyric, whether written alone or not,
Softly enters our hearts and finds the right spot
To heal and to comfort, to soothe and to calm,
His music undergirds us, and offers a balm

The tears flow so freely; our vision is blurred,
But suddenly, gratefully, his music is heard.
The God-gifted artist, with talent so wise,
Wipes away sorrows and the tears from our eyes.

The music, the magic the performance is there,
An awesome production, with voice oh so fair!
We relearn the lesson, and add it to another -
"We"ve a lot to give when we give to each other..."

He's at the head of our parade, our march through our time,
A gift and a healing, an artist sublime-
The lesson is learned, from him to each other,
We are connected on this board, one to another.
We've known what is right, and done what is wrong,
And Neil reflects it all, in the thick beauty of his song.

We each have our favorites, the ones we love the best,
And in thise for us all, there is healing and rest.
We know from experience, the high and the low;
Each one is held in the music's gentle flow
Whether a smile on our face, or in our eyes a tear.
Neil teaches us, once again, we have nothing to fear,

Through a divorce and two heart attacks, my life was shattered,
But his music gently taught me that I really mattered.
Each of us come here, with a vulnerable story.....
For my scribbling's shortcomings, I'm truly sorry.
But this one thing I know, through smiles and fright -
His music has taught me to seek out the Light.......

So eloquently said, it would be great if we could all express our feelings as well as this, Neil expresses his in his songs so well too. Think I might keep my poems to myself after reading yours. Very nicely done.

'Confessional' is the perfect word to describe your own work too. Thanks for sharing something so close to your heart in such a beautiful way.

You have such a way of grasping and putting into words those elusive feelings that I have when I listen to Neils music! And also expressing the sharing and community of this board. Thank you.
