Bought the Region 2 UK DVD to get this--now it's on YouTube?
Great picture, but the real story is even better.  Kerans was in Nanking because he was in disgrace. Peacetime boredom fostered his vices of drink and other men's wives; stick him in a crisis and he sharpened up.
Oh, and during the filming the pyrotechnics damaged her hull; her premature scrapping was a result of that.

Good Flick, especially since it was based on true events.

Last night I watched "Air Force"  (1943)  for the first time since I was a wee lad, watching it with my Father.  Brought back a lot of memories and not a few tears.
